We engaged Andreas to finish the interior and exterior and furnish our brand new penthouse apartment in Athens. We live in Australia and were not able to travel to Athens at the time we engaged Andreas and we relied on him to manage and complete the project for us completely remotely. Andreas used his local connections to execute the project to budget and in a timely manner. He communicated with us very effectively and kept us involved in the project (even if remote) every step of the way. Andreas has fabulous taste and an eye for all the necessary details. His ideas for an appropraite layout and the best furniture to fit our family's needs were all fantastic. Andreas engaged custom furniture makers to customise all the pieces to ensure they fit our unique layout as best as possible. We could not be happier with the finished result and having now spent time in it are very appreciative of all the custom elements that were incorporated to most effectively use all our spaces. He was thoughtful in all of his suggestions whilst accomodating of our requests (our daughter had a number of these for her room!). We could not have completed the project without Andreas' help and we are very thankful to have crossed paths with him. The results far exeeded our expectations. We highly recommend Andreas.

My wife Michele and I are working with Andreas and Juan for the second time and cannot imagine working with another team of architects/designers on our new home. They are consummate professionals who have come to understand what we like and what we don't care for. They present many lovely options from a palette they know we'll be comfortable with both in style and price and, thus, most decisions come very easily. Just remarkable. Our first experience with them was in 2013 when we were about to buy a duplex apartment in a landmark building in Greenwich Village in New York. We toyed with idea of doing things on our own, but soon realized we were investing too much money to leave things to our untrained eyes. I happened to be looking at Houzz for some ideas and saw several apartments designed by Andreas that just jumped off the screen. Michele was equally excited Although Forma is based in D.C., Andreas agreed to come to New York and look at our place. What he described to us was nothing less than enthralling. And in execution, it was just as thrilling. Over 8 years, not one visitor has come to our place without remarking on the beauty of the design and its European feel. We decided to move out of the city this year to be near one of our grandsons and to have more space to entertain and host family. We found the perfect place and promptly called Andreas. This collaboration is just as exciting as the first, maybe moreso because Michele has learned a great deal from Andreas and Juan and feels like a team member. I just nod (or don't if I disagree), but once again the design will make this nice house, spectacular. Do yourselves a favor and at the very least consult with Forma. They are terrific.

We hired FORMA Design to help us finish the new apartment we purchased. Other that the floors, the apartment was delivered unfinished, so we asked FORMA to assist us in designing the kitchen, select the appliances, lighting, air conditioning, fixtures and fittings throughout, as well as fully furnish this two bedroom flat in the Gazi area of Athens, with its amazing view of the Acropolis and the Parthenon. The results are amazing, and we couldn’t be happier!

I found out about Forma Design on a simple google search, saw their work and awards on local projects and loved their aesthetics. I contacted Andreas and soon after we were walking my property. I expressed the vision I had for the space and over the next few months Andreas and Juan brought the vision to reality. We hired Andreas for the second time to do a full renovation of a 2,500 sf 1900 townhouse in the Logan Circle neighborhood in DC. We wanted a completely open, airy, modern space and Andreas's design delivered it, making a great use of every single space. Despite of the challenges the project presented given the age of the house, everything went smoothly without major surprises and incredible results.

My Design and Build Firm GardenWise, Inc. has a mutually successful collaboration on the designs for two residential projects, the Hanlon Residence located in Arlington, VA and the Fasano Residence in the Logan Circle Neighborhood of Washington, DC. The Fasano Residence is under construction and I have included a photograph of the rear court yard. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Andreas and Juan of FORMA Design. “I was just hired for a project in New Jersey, and I believe I found the guy you’ve been looking for!!!” was my excited long time contractor’s exclamation on the phone. “You did?…” I responded skeptically. For over a year I was searching desperately for an architect who would turn my newly purchased New York City apartment into an inviting yet also exciting home for me. I renovated three apartments before this one. I went once through the French Country look and twice through the Conservative Contemporary style. This time I needed a fresh look, more vibrant colors, intriguing textures, daring art. I imagined something modern with a touch of European and the exotic. In a matter of two months and with the help of his amiable and capable assistant, Juan Gutierrez, the intricate drawings and plans for my apartment were ready for my review. The big day of traveling to his office in Washington D.C. came, and I was anxious the whole way. What if this was not it?!! Ever had the experience of a dream comes true?! That was my experience that day. Andreas challenged my senses in a way that was beyond my anticipation. I was thrilled and enlivened by his zen color choices on one hand and the combination with sensuous textures and dramatic lighting and art ideas. He managed to create the apartment in my dreams! Working with Andreas is an adventure by itself. He is highly professional and very serious about his work. He works with a clear vision for your place, and just as he holds the reigns tight on his team, he will make sure you too do not slack. He kept me on my toes when it came to choosing materials, going to showrooms and making decisions. He nudged me when I balked at choices that seemed too daring, and in retrospect, I am so thankful that he did. The prospect of moving from a much larger house to a 2,000 sq. ft. condominium was daunting. We bought our condo because of its relatives spaciousness, excellent location and the wonderful views of the trees and shrubbery directly underneath the windows. But our new home had a rather tired look inside and the configuration of rooms was too confining and fussy. So we decided to completely remodel, consonant with our well-defined functional and aesthetic preferences. After a thorough search among architectural firms, we chose Forma Design because of the elegance and modern presentation of the finalized projects of this firm. Andreas Charalambous, the leading architect of Forma Design, had a number of remarkably inventive ideas for the design of our home, creating light, fluidity and functionality. His firm worked very well managing the contractors and subcontractors, making sure that the construction was faithful to the design. While the design of our home is modern, we had some favorite paintings, sculptures and furniture which we needed to be incorporated. We are really satisfied with the final subtle blendof modernity and a touch of traditionalism. Working with Andreas was a very interesting and learning experience. He is a brilliant and very determined architect who can be a great asset in any home design project.

Andreas and Forma Design, I have worked with lots of architects over the years on both commercial and residential projects, but you consistently raise the bar. We have worked together on several commercial projects, but I believe your best work was on our home. You immediately understood what we wanted from the renovation and fit the design into the existing footprint of our house, which saved us our backyard. A feature which we enjoy all year long! We have had the pleasure of working with Forma Design on several high-end renovation projects. I purchased a new loft style condo late 2013 and had no idea how to decorate it. Open floor-plan, 20 foot ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, exposed duct work, etc. I didn't want to leave it simple and as-is, but transform it into a space that would "wow" people when they entered it. After an initial experience working with a "by-the-hour" designer fell short of my expectations/needs, I decided to start looking for an established design firm that could help me realize my vision. I found FORMA through researching local designers with experience in building out modern residential spaces, and looking through the work of theirs in Houzz and like publications, they appeared to be more aligned with what I was picturing. From the minute I met with them (Andreas), I knew it would be a fit. He immediately began throwing out ideas, concepts, and possible changes that could make my space "pop". Upon requesting my feedback, FORMA did a great job at taking a very abstract vision of what I was targeting the end result to emanate and turned that into a plan that achieved that and beyond. They started with 3D drawings to get my approval, then followed with a formal plan of how they would deliver. End-to-end, I was very satisfied in working with FORMA. They did all of the work, I just had to give my approvals and cut the checks. Their talent, experience, and confidence in their work showed, and they never had any doubts that the end results would meet my expectations - and they were right! The staff (Andreas and Juan for my project) and of equal importance the contractors they work with (MCA Remodeling in my case) work in perfect coordination making one-another and the quality of the work products in aggregate better as a result. There were a couple of minor hiccups related to the timing of some of the furniture delivery that caused me frustration, but ultimately that was out of FORMA's hands (more the vendor issue). They did their best to give me options at varying price points to help keep me within my targeted budget, so hopefully that was an anomaly or they will reconsider using that vendor in the future. It's a big undertaking, completely transforming your home and spending a lot of money to do so, but in selecting FORMA, you can be certain of one thing - the results will be beautiful, unique, and "wow" your friends.

We were already building a new house in Bethesda with a builder but needed someone to help us through the project to coordinate because we were living overseas. We also wanted more modern look which Forma design helped us to achieve from just a few key design changes and the hardware selections. Larry -- our key contact - has always been accessible, professional and mostly respectable of our budget & taste. The project is now completed with Andrea taking over to provide the finishing touches/furniture selection. Highly recommend Forma. I love their minimalist approach to the designs. I hired FORMA to remodel my 2-BR loft-style condo in the Logan Circle area of Washington, D.C. In short, I'm very pleased with the result and I'd definitely hire them again. I was happy with the ways in which they pushed me in directions I wouldn't have considered, and in cases where they recommended against ideas that I floated, I almost uniformly realized a bit down the road that they were entirely correct. The aesthetic -- modern and airy while also being warm and welcoming -- is impeccable. I also was extremely pleased by their response time; it was rare that emails or phone calls wouldn't be answered within a few hours, and often it was quicker.

My wife and I purchased a duplex in Greenwich Village in New York that needed to be completely renovated and decorated. We looked at many New York architects and decorators, but after seeing Forma's work on Houzz, we reached out to Andreas despite his location in Washington. We are delighted that we did. Andreas met us in the raw space, sat with us to get an idea of what we were looking for and began sketching plans for the renovation before we had closed on the apartment. He asked us to send him pictures from Houzz of rooms we liked, pieces of furniture that caught our eye and things we didn't like. We were delighted with the preliminary plans, but Andreas was completely open to changing things we didn't like or subtlely altering the design to meet us half way. We found his style and taste to be impeccable. He and Juan also helped us select our furniture. We visited their offices in Washington and in one heady afternoon chose a color palette that was both unusual and completely workable. Out of two personal meetings we received a Master Plan and furniture list that miraculously when finished looks precisely the way it did on the printed page six months ago. The results are nothing short of thrilling. Our friends, including artists and designers, ooh and ah. The apartment is chic, but not pretentious, elegant, but livable. Even our respective children--often very harsh critics--have nothing but wonderful things to say about how stylish and beautiful everything turned out. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend the Forma team.

We retained FORMA to design a modern interior for our new construction home overlooking woods. Andreas and Larry focused on how we as a family would use our new space and applied those insights to material selection, furniture layout, etc.. As a unifying design element, they covered one interior wall in stone-look tile, rising through all four levels and wrapping around both sides of the wall. Ceiling bulkheads combined with LED strip lighting and extensive use of recessed MR16s created a dramatic effect in our main living areas. They took advantage of a wall of windows lining the stairwell by designing an open-tread stairwell with thick oak treads and glass railings. Guidance on furniture and trim selection resulted in a sleek modern space that somehow also feels warm. At our "thank you" party for neighbors, we received many, many compliments on their work.

We purchased a new apartment in Washington, DC's Logan Circle neighborhood and were very disappointed with what the developer delivered....that's when we called Andreas at FORMA Design. Andreas has beautiful taste and was able to help us redesign our apartment to where it worked for us, he is very easy to work with and keeps the project on time.

We've done two projects now with Andreas, Larry, and Juan and have been very happy with the work. We originally did a full renovation of the house minus the basement and then completed the basement once the kids got older. We had bought a colonial and wanted a much more contemporary interior. The team took the time to understand what we wanted and how we live our lives, iterated the design with us to our liking, and has the patience to put up with changes of heart and mind that invariably happens. We purchased this traditional colonial in 2001 for its scenic, private grounds and location. However, I always wanted a contemporary style home with clean lines and lots of open space and windows, and a big kitchen to entertain. The house was about 7000 square feet, but it was lacking the openness I desired due to multiple small rooms and many walls. That is when I turned to Forma Design. They reconfigured the space and worked within the existing footprint of the house in order to create this openness. The end result was absolutely breathtaking! I now love and enjoy every corner of my house, and, when I have parties and have friends over, they all love it as well. You would not believe the number of compliments I get from everyone who come to the house. I am extremely pleased with the work done and I highly recommend Forma Design.-:)

Having seen FORMA's creations in many design sources, I knew they were one of the few local firms whose style/aesthetic matched mine. Once I met with Andreas, the principal (architect & designer), and heard his ideas for transforming my just-purchased duplex condominium space, I was confident that the end result would be what I was looking for. Turns out I was right, and then some. After renovating a small townhouse with Andreas and having lived there for couple years with great joy, an opportunity arose to purchase the next door unit which was larger and had a balcony with Washington monument views, but at about the same time I was stationed to Seoul, Korea for work. So we started a long distance renovation with Andreas. Knowing how picky I was and how involved I wanted to stay with the project, he and Juan sent me weekly updates with pictures and we would be on email almost daily. The design part was a breeze. I already knew and admired his style from the first renovation. Clean, modern lines that open up space, eliminate visual clutter and unify the space in such a way that made me feel special to wake up in such a place. But now having lived in Asia I found myself drawn to the understated zen aesthetics there. So Andreaas came to visit me in Seoul and I could show him elements of that style that I loved, But more than just showing them I wanted him to feel the sense of zen that I was experiencing there. We got so tuned in to this mindset that one night our emails crossed suggesting the same stone surround for the fireplace :-). The result is Zen Modern 2. A place that makes me feel happy just by being there. It is my sanctuary. I know a lot of people would think it crazy to do a gut renovation from overseas. Well this was even better for me b/c I only got to see the wonderful product rather than dealing with the stress of a renovation. Andreas and Juan, I am very grateful for what you did. l love my beautiful place. It improved my life quality in a way I couldn't imagine.
