Ethan Gerard heads a boutique architecture and design practice specializing in well-crafted residential projects with a regional modernist bent. A strong emphasis on attentive client service and custom detailing are hallmarks of the practice. The firm's work strives for balance within a framework of understated elegance and sustainable design (including green design — energy efficiency, solar design, geothermal heating/cooling). Gerard's work has been featured in national and international publications including the book 1000x Architecture of the Americas, Interior Design, The New York Times, Belle, New York Home, Progressive Architecture, The Arizona Republic and highlighted on PBS television's New York Voices. Gerard received an academic scholarship from the American Institute of Architects and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design's European Honors Program in Rome, Italy. Gerard is a registered architect, licensed in multiple states and the British Virgin Islands.

Ethan is fantastic to work with. I could not recommend him more. He is a great combination of incredibly creative / good at what he does but also incredibly organized and professional (something I have seen less present in others in his field). He is diligent, smart, a great communicator, collaborative, and while super talented, has a relatively small ego, something that I find helps in architectural (and construction) projects. I look forward to working with him again...

Ethan Gerard Architect is a huge talent with deeps roots and understanding of the contemporary and modern aesthetic of his profession. I've known Ethan for almost thirty years. As a fellow architect, Ethan is by far one of the best in the industry. He is not only a great designer but his technical prowess and follow-through is evident in his portfolio of work. I can best describe Ethan as 'an architect's architect'. If I were hiring an architect to design my project, I would definitely hire him given that I wouldn't want to live with my own mistakes. Ethan provided great guidance and patience as we worked our way from initial discussions to general design parameters, to full set drawings and builing. We now have a wonderfully designed modernist home in the Hudson Valley along the river. It's a dream come true and we continue to love the house, the compliments we receive and the on going discovery and beauty of the design.

I stumbled upon Ethan Gerard's website while searching for an architect to build my home on Long Island. After interviewing a number of architect's who were referred to us we came back to Ethan. Through his commitment to the project along with his impeccable taste, amazing talent and professionalism we built a modern dream home with relatively minor stress. Ethan has a clear vision but was also able to accommodate our desires. Our home was published in 1000 Great Homes in North America and ten years later it is still relevant and a pleasure to live in. I hope to build another house one day and I would not think twice about using Ethan again.
