About Us

Giulietti Schouten Weber Architects is a Portland-based architecture firm designing unique, client-driven projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and nationally. Founded by Dave Giulietti, AIA in 1987, and joined by partners Tim Schouten in 1993, and Jake Weber in 2013, the firm builds on their 30+ years of experience creating places for people that value the significance of design. Having completed hundreds of residential and light-commercial buildings, the foundation of our success comes from listening to our clients and their goals in order to create beautiful and functional architecture that makes a difference in their lives. Managing a small firm has allowed the principals to maintain close relationships with team members and all design aspects of each project. We look to expand the design horizons of our clients and create unique spaces for their specific needs. We believe that the success of each project is highly dependent on a strong communication between the architect and client. While being best known for our residential and specialized housing projects, we continue to be called upon to design a variety of building types including theaters, schools, religious and church facilities, restaurants, retail, and offices.

We purchased our dream property a few years ago, and knew that we we wanted to work with a thoughtful architect when the time came to design our home. We were impressed with the homes Giulietti Schouten designed near our ours - they seemed to be uniquely crafted for their owners and took full advantage of their locations. Based on this we reached out to Tim and Dave. They carefully listened to what we thought we wanted, then took us on a creative journey through potential designs that ended with a style of home we never considered but is the perfect fit for us and our property. It has a sense of lightness and flow that doesn't just happen - it is the result of experience, creativity and vision. Tim has been our primary architect and is fantastic to work with - he went above and beyond to create a beautiful yet functional design and remains fully supportive during construction. We are very happy with GSA's work and grateful for their partnership on our home - thank you GSA!

We hired Giulietti Schouten to design a modern-ish house in a historic neighborhood. We wanted the exterior to reflect our taste but blend into the area. We also wanted the interior to be clean, welcoming and light. Mission accomplished. This was our first new construction project, so we had a steep learning curve. Dave and Tim did an excellent job of patiently listening to our goals/dreams, educating us on possibilities/options, and pulling everything together in a timely manner. They also worked well with our interior designer and builder. As an added bonus, they stuck to the original budget! I can't imagine building a new house without them.

We worked with Jake Weber to design our home in Lake Oswego. This was the our first time designing a home. Both my husband and I were quite nervous at the beginning as to whether we had taken on too large/stressful of an endeavor. However, from our first meeting with Jake we were assured we were in excellent hands and might even have fun along the way!. Our initial homework was to provide Jake with a vision of our house in terms of design, space and functionality. From there, he began the process of his incredibly talented craft to design the exterior and interior of our home. He took us through the process methodically, offering his design expertise while carefully listening to and respecting our our own thoughts and ideas. We were actually able to do almost all of this virtually (hello 2020!) with zoom meetings/reviews. Each meeting we had was well organized and fun as we saw our house gradually develop from the exterior to each individual room/aspect. It was particularly fun for me to look at our house from the 3D modeling and dissection--all of which we were able to do remotely. His expertise throughout remained astounding. We always felt confident with his meticulous professionalism, knowledge and ideas. Moreover, Jake is an absolute pleasure to work with. He is patient, thoughtful and collaborative. Look no further--hire him!

From the start, they are really able to understand the owners wants, create great architecture, and share that vision with builders. As we embarked on a near ‘knock down’ project of our older home on Lake Oswego, we had the chance to meet with Dave and Tim of G/SA. From that first meeting, we knew that we had found our partners for the project. We immediately began a close collaboration in developing our Northwest-Modern design, gaining city approval, and selection of our contractor. Now, as we are ‘full-on’ into construction mode of the project, we can see the results of a true partnership that has been excellent through every phase. As we are 15 months into construction, the tight collaboration between ourselves, G/SA and our contractor, is showing great results. Jake, Tim and Dave (and the rest of the team), have continued to stay fully engaged and supportive as we are getting ever-closer to having a finished home! The overall communication, deliberation, and decision making between all of the stakeholders, has been remarkable. The process of starting a project of this scope demands that you have the right partners to be successful. Our choice of Giulietti and Schouten AIA has been key in the success that we are enjoying!! With a ‘little luck and a following-sea’, we should be sharing some photos of a beautiful home in a few months!

Jake Weber and the team at Giuletti Schouten have created a dream home for us. We purchased a 1965 house in its well preserved original condition. Jake honored the home's history while designing for a whole house remodel. No small task. The finished product honors the original architect Ken Birkemeier's use of an open floor plan, peaked ceilings, stone masonry and glass. Jake's ability to retain key pieces of original architecture while creating new design work helped guide us to a truly modern mid-century home. We had incredible communication from Jake on every phase of the design process and continued through the construction phase with multiple on-sight meetings with us and the builder. The team work was impressive. Jake was a key part in making our lengthy project manageable. The work finished on time and exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Jake Weber and Giulietti Schouten. Their work is professional, on time and creative without losing the ability to problem solve and meet budget needs. They great people designing great spaces.

We hired Giulietti Schouten on two different occasions. We first hired them in 2002 to help us design our whole house remodel. We purchased a 100 year old home and went about renovating it from top to bottom. Dave Giulietti and his team helped us with the entire design, which included a kitchen expansion, addition of a nook, lowering of the basement floor and much more. Last year we hired them again to add 1500 square feet to accommodate our growing family. The project went through many iterations with GSA before landing on our present design. They have been excellent to work with in all aspects.
