When we purchased our house in mid-town Toronto, we hired Maureen Sanborn to design a new plan. We found her to be an outstanding and creative professional. Although a traditional Arts and Crafts style, the house required a complete renovation. We wanted something that maintained the beautiful historic character of the home (a stone exterior dating to the early 1900s), but with two young children, we wanted a warm, family friendly environment suited for a busy family life and open concept entertaining. While working within our budget, the design restored the beautiful original finishes of the house while opening it up to light, space and flow. The renovation also required complex structural issues and she managed that process extremely well. We have a beautiful and tasteful family home, and Maureen was instrumental in realizing that vision.

Heintzman Sanborn Architecture/Interior Design does excellent work and provides amazing service, on time and under budget. I worked with Maureen and Howard on the renovation of my house which is located in Forest Hill. They provided designs/plans which reflected exactly what I was looking for, within tight deadlines and with great attention to detail; there was no detail that was missed in their work. In addition, they worked with the builder and sourced quality products and materials which has made all the difference in the aesthetic of the house and design implementation. There was no question too small to ask and I learned a lot, including about the construction process generally. They were professional, they listened and the went above and beyond to ensure that I was satisfied. I trust their judgment and expertise and would definitely use them again for future projects.

When we moved into our 1970's style side split home the kitchen was still circa 1970's with the jenn air stove top and huge black and white tile throughout. Maureen Sanborn, Architect and Interior Designer helped us come up with a new contemporary design that was in keeping with the style of the house. The addition of a wall of shelves and glass cupboards is beautiful to showcase cookbooks, dinnerware and artwork. As well the breakfast nook bench under the window overlooking the backyard is unique and is the signature piece of the kitchen. Our family enjoys spending time in the kitchen and entertaining there. Maureen was professional at all times, liaised with the contractors and kept the project on time. As well, she listened and understood our styles and wishes and worked diligently at incorporating this into the plan. Maureen accompanied us to pick out appliances and lighting that we love to this day! The project stayed on budget and there were no major issues at all with construction.

I worked with Heintzman Sanborn Architects for the renovation of my house. They helped create the design for a beautiful addition, maintaining the historical character of the house while bringing it up to elegant standards of an young, professional family home. The detailed drawings provided where great for construction execution. Howard & Maureen listened and incorporated our requirements, worked respectfully with me(interior designer) and brought wonderfully creative ideas to fulfilled our vision. I highly recommend this team!

Heintzman Sanborn designed the new kitchen/dining room/family room addition for our house in Toronto. The knowledge and experience that Maureen Sanborn brought to the planning and design of the space was invaluable in creating the best use for the rooms, maximizing storage while creating the elegant, classic aesthetic we were hoping to achieve within our older home. Howard Heintzman's attention to detail in all aspects of the drawings ensured that our trades had a very clear picture of what was expected, and their site supervision was excellent. We were thrilled with the results and would highly recommend the firm.
