Hollberg Architecture PLLC

Hollberg provided consultation on our studio cottage in Charleston, South Carolina; our neighborhood is situated on deep water and is known for the Civil War Fort Pemberton and our iconic Avenue of Oaks—consisting of 73 live oak trees believed to be over 100 years old—as well as many more live oaks including ones whose limbs stretch onto our property. Homeowners work to preserve the historical integrity of the architecture here and we have been waging war with local utility companies to not over trim the trees as well as with neighbors who, sadly like those next door, have slipped by permits to install construction that disrupts our beautiful tree canopy. That's all to say that when we closed on our home, we worked with Hollberg to strategize a staged expansion of the dwelling that both maximized living space to our lot size and minimized the impact on the natural canopy, neighborhood "vibe", and history of the home itself, which was originally constructed as part of the neighboring estate. Working with Hollberg meant that no stone of the imagination was left unturned and we ultimately reoriented the corner lot to enter from the side street and designed a hacienda-style layout with an enclosed interior courtyard for ultimate privacy and property use with several fruit trees and sublimely tranquil energy. This guy is great.
