HMH is a dream to work with! High quality work, attention to detail, and the team is a delightful. The process was really fun, starting with several options on how to design the space, reviewing drawings, looking at samples for various finishes....They took care of everything each step of the way. And the result- an absolutely stunning house. Highly recommend!

We’ve been working with Duane at Hundred Mile House on the renovation of our midcentury home in Palm Springs. From the beginning, Duane has had a really thoughtful approach to the house and a strong understanding of what makes the original architecture special. We wanted to modernize the home and make some fairly significant changes, while still keeping it connected to its Palm Springs character. Duane has been great at balancing those two goals. He has a strong design eye, pays attention to the details, and has helped us think through everything from the larger architectural decisions to materials and finishes. He’s also been patient as the scope and some of our ideas have evolved throughout the process, which we really appreciate. Renovating a home involves a lot of decisions, and it has been reassuring having someone who understands both the design intent and the practical side of bringing it together. We’re excited to see the project continue to take shape and are very happy with the direction of the renovation.

We are in the throes of our joe coffee Palm Springs design and build out - and we couldn’t have asked for a better partner then this team - Duane and his team have been joined at the hip with us - having been a new Englander my whole life they challenged us with innovative designs which kept our east coat joe vibe come alive on the west coast but we adopted the feel and vibe of the west coast / Palm Springs into our new joe coffee Palm Springs location. Soon to be opened in January 2027! Reaponsive, experise, customer focused , and a pleasure to partner with ! Looking forward to watching the new location come alive this fall !

Duane Smith if Hundred Mile House executes my design ideas for a complete hut renovation of my Joshua Tree house, Quail’s End at Joshua Tree. He offered several versions of my concepts and substantially improved upon my original concept. In addition he handled all the permits and helped source local vendors in the area, supervising the build most of the way. Hsiang is a lovely, talented person whose work is always superior. I recommend him highly! He’s a pleasure to work with too!

Duane is very easy to work with. He has an excellent eye for design. He follows through from concept to completion. He is very respectful of budget constraints. He is completely comfortable dealing with complex budget spreadsheets and simultaneously choosing the perfect tile.

Duane at Hundred Mile House is a fantastic professional and an ideal partner for an architectural project. His work is creative and beautiful - but perhaps more importantly, he puts enormous emphasis on understanding the site, the experience we want to create, and the kind of family we are. He walked us through the process, timelines and fees up front, and then delivered to those expectations -- while being flexible and responsive whenever we'd throw him a curveball. We've also seen and experienced other examples of his work, and what they have in common is that they are beautiful spaces (worthy of any design mag) that are also warm, comfortable and engaging.

Duane helped us while we were house-hunting in Palm Springs by visiting properties with us and quickly visualizing potential renovations and plans and estimating the construction costs. He's positive, professional and a very good listener who understood and interpreted our wishes into his design concepts beautifully. Once we close on our new place, we will be hiring him for our renovation project.
