We couldn’t be happier with our house’s exterior design by Jennie! She was a pleasure to work with on this project. Jennie was quick to provide initial designs and offered us options we never considered and loved the ideas. We absolutely love the final design. She listened attentively to our wishes and understood them perfectly. She also followed up with us on the progress and offered help if we needed it. Jennie is amazing! We recently remodeled our master bath. At first we were going to do just minor changes, leaving the layout mostly as it was. I wanted to find someone who might be able to give us other ideas, while my husband didn't think there was anything else we could do. However, I talked him into trying. Jennie was the designer we chose. She was easy to work with and very responsive to communication. Her design ideas were great and it was so easy to take pieces of one design and incorporate into another. She made changes after thoughts I had on an area and then ran with it. We couldn't have been more pleased with the final result. She designed the bathroom to get so much more use out of the space. We went from one vanity to two and also one shared closet to separate closets. The shower is beautiful and we have a built in linen cabinet with a tilt out hamper inserted into one of the shower walls. She was able to get everything I wanted in the space and more! The difference is amazing and the newly finished bath is beautiful! I would highly recommend Jennie to anyone!

Our house burned to the ground, so Jennie had to completely start from scratch to design our house, the way it WAS, from the ground up. What a challenge! She was an excellent listener and seemed to be able to take my words, envisage them, and put them to paper. We are over the moon with her work. In the end, I asked her to make some changes to it from my imagination, and she grasped what I wanted immediately. Beautiful job. She was so patient and made sure that we had plenty of time to look at her drawings and change things as we thought of them. She has a really good personality and is funny and patient, which helped me so much in my traumatic situation. I highly recommend her work.

She brought my vision to life in the potential I saw in my childhood home. Jennie provided us with 3 beautiful designs of the inside as well as 2 outside designs. Love Jennie. Designs are creative and she listened to what we wanted. The Design process took a little longer than anticipated (just by a week or two) but was worth the wait. . We are now looking for a contractor to help us build the bathroom she designed. This is our first remodel and she has invaluable insight and has been so very helpful. Her input at this stage is sure to save us some money. She is also working with us as we try to keep cost down. Willing to work with our budget and I don’t feel she is pushing for any specific product or price. I know she is very busy but is very responsive to return messages and calls. We hired Jennie when we began the process of an addition to our home. (After talking to 4 others) She listened to our ideas and ran with them! She gave us several plans to choose from with some options we would not have imagined. She hit the nail on the head and I got a bonus remodel of my kitchen and didn't exceed our budget of $175, 000. We waited a little longer than we expected on the plans but in the long run, it was so worth it! I'd certainly recommend Jennie for your architectural needs. We ended up using her husbands company, Harmony Remodeling as well. (Also after meeting with a couple other builders and getting estimates) Thanks Jennie (and Mike :)) for a job well done! We have more than we expected and are so excited with our final product!

We had a less than pleasant experience when working with Jennie Leigh. After 3 months of waiting and telling us on several occasions she would have drawings to us next week, we sent a strongly worded email asking for drawings within the next week or a refund of our large deposit. After a week or two she finally provided us with drawings. However, they were preliminary drawings so nothing was to scale and we weren't please with the overall look. We decide to work with someone else going forward to avoid the unnecessary stress and wasted time. We lost a rather large deposit and wasted 3 months. If you work with Jennie Leigh I would ask to speak with builders she has worked with on past projects and add specific timelines to the contract she makes you sign.

While I do value Ms James' perception of the events - my assessment of the project/relationship is a little different than she is portraying. While I do agree that the timeline was not as speedy as It normally is - as she stated, there were no commitments to time made in the contract. However, with regards to the drawings that were delivered for the preliminary phase - these were presented just as described within the contract & with the mutual understanding that the next step was for her to critique & resubmit to me with the changes she desired. (See attached). Per the contract, and per feeling that I had indeed submitted drawings that were appropriate for the phase (upholding my end of the contract) - I felt that a FULL refund ($810) was not quite warranted.

I am saddened that I have a client who is less than ecstatic with our working relationship - and I agree & concede with Ms James that establishing a design calendar for the project is a great idea. I believe that if it had been implemented on their project, it might have eliminated the frustration that I believe fueled this review.

I can only learn from each experience and commit to do better with the next. And I do encourage potential clients to converse with builders & other clients I've worked with; i have a very long list of happy both. Below, I've also attached a copy of the 1st page of contract that defines the scope of the project as well as 3 of the initial drawings that I provided for the prelim phase - just to illustrate that the prelim phased drawings were not merely simple line drawings but additionally full color renderings - and that there was a product delivered that could be used as a spring board for their project. (Houzz limited me to 4 images total here, tho there were 20+ more pages delivered to client - including all drawn elevations of house before & after)

Being out of state buyers and soon to be remodelers of an older(80's) home we needed someone from the Birmingham area to work with getting some plans together to tackle this job. Looked at several architect, designers and decided to contact Jennie. We set a time and met at our lake house doing a walk through of the existing home and ideas and plans of what we had in mind. She had a challenge in our minds to increase the required living space we wanted within the existing square footage(interior)also an add on room/porch and new exterior covered porch and revamp look of the home. Jennie worked with us to meet the needed requirements for permitting with the local municipality. She provided exterior plans different looks/ 3d drawings until we were happy with the plan. With the interior, she took our ideas/plans, listened to our needs, gave suggestions on improving floor plan, did 3d drawings and helped us to finalize a plan of action for interior living space. We also had Jennie incorporate a freestanding garage plan on our limited acreage for the building and permitting process. Thanks to Jennie for her great knowledge of design and listening to the clients needs. She was really a pleasure to meet and fun to work with.

Jennie Leigh is the Best!!!!!!!!! We were referred to her, and we are so lucky that we were. We had a remodel/addition project of a 1935 craftsman. We have 3 small kids so we had lots of needs for space and storage and function, and she addressed them all. She is more than helpful and is always open for suggestions. If you have a vision she will put it to paper, and at the same time enhance details that will make your project something beyond your expectations. Jennie designed a kitchen for my husband and me in 2008. She took an eyesore of a kitchen in our one hundred year old home and turned it into a beautiful, functional, relaxing area. She should be called a Miracle Worker. Her design gave great attention to each area of the small space she had to work with. I love it all, especially the lighting. I would highly recommend Jennie Leigh Jones for any project.
