JMJ Studios is a boutique, all-female design firm based in Marin County. Founder Julie M Johnson, brings strong commercial design and construction experience to private practice. We aim to bring innovative, modern design solutions to any design project. Our strong communication, rigorous space-planning, constant collaboration and technical skills enable us to take your project to the next level. We believe that architecture should be designed for a specific client, on a specific site, for a specific purpose and that we all have a responsibility to bring an environmental consciousness to design.

Julie helped us create a home that our family loves and cherished. She understood to our needs, had patience with us, and came up with creative ideas to accommodate our needs. She was able to manage challenges that presented along the way and maintained good communication not only with us, but with other people involved in the project (contractor, subcontractors, etc). The entire project from initial discussion of it until the end ran smoothly thanks in part to her thoughtful and insightful creative solutions.

Julie and her team were wonderful to work with during the upgrade and remodel of our mid-century home in Sausalito. It began with Julie have to create a proper set of plans for our 60 year old property, and included structural (internal and external) work as well as removing and moving walls, creating a full bathroom out of a dirt-floor storage area, and creatively bringing much needed light to a dark great room. Through every stage of our remodel, from conception to design, then project oversight, Julie worked closely with us; she listened to our ideas and concerns and incorporated them into the plans. Once when a mistake was made on her side, she quickly owned it and made it right. She continued to be responsive and helpful throughout our 12 months of work. We especially appreciated Julie's flexibility when we asked her to work with a designer and contractor she did not know. She did so with grace and professionalism and has gone on toe collaborate with each of them on other projects. We highly recommend Julie and JMJ Studios.

Julie Johnson and JMJ Studios helped us transform a former kitchen in an Edwardian-era home into a new master bath and two closets. Working with us prior to demolition, Julie came up with a layout that made full and creative use of the space – she is a master at space planning. In the design phase, she collaborated with us to make sure that her design fit our needs, and gave us very helpful input on the fixtures and finishes. During construction, her architectural plans were unerringly accurate and detailed, providing answers to each and every issue. Not only is Julie a highly skilled architect with vision and an ability to meet deadlines, but she is patient, kind, and a pleasure to work with. We are delighted with our new bathroom and closets, and highly recommend Julie and her team at JMJ Studios.

We hired Julie from JMJ Studios to work on a kitchen renovation project. Julie performed an outstanding work! She conceptualized the space in accordance to our family dynamics. She shared highly creative ideas, while remaining within budget frame. Julie is very talented, her designs are a proof of it. Julie's communication is fast, easy, open. Julie is a great listener, and really works around clients' considerations. The room we had her redesign is now our favorite room in our home. We get ongoing compliments from friends, and family.
