I have worked with Jeff on a number of projects. He is very creative and a pleasure to work with. Jeff bends over backwards to make sure that his designs are perfect and that the client is happy. Jeff and his firm planned and oversaw the complete renovation of the second story of our 160 year-old home. He was involved in every detail and was always quick to respond to questions. Jeff Kaufman and the team from JMKA Architects recently helped my wife and I transform our master bedroom/bathroom and upstairs living spaces. I am a colleague of Jeff's who has known him for over 30 years, where we first worked together for another firm. I had not seen Jeff since approximately 1986, when he left the firm and moved on. Last year I was hired as owner's rep for a large school renovation, and darn it was i shocked when he appeared at one of the Owner's meeting as the Town Building Committee team leader. Jeff Kaufman has an excellent eye for architecture and always seems to come up with a very functional but unique design. I have done several projects with Jeff and I see the projects full circle. From the initial client meeting to design, bidding, project management, to completion. In the initial meeting with the client Jeff will walk around the existing house listening to the clients expectations, just taking it all in, and then CLICK! It amazes me when Jeff starts explaining his vision and sketching out his ideas of the design which is not exactly what the homeowner was envisioning, it's better. Just about every time you hear from the client "huh I would have never thought of doing it that way but I love it!" That ability to tune in to the wants and needs of a client while still keeping the architectural integrity to the overall project, I think is the definition of a good architect, and why I will continue to refer Jeff Kaufman.
