I interviewed three local Architects and I am SO GLAD I chose John Schroeder and his team. They did a phenomenal job! I've lived in my home for 30 years and my wish list for this renovation project was long. We added 600 square feet, creating a new en suite primary bedroom, dressing room and laundry room, all on one level, enabling me to age-in-place in my 1936 Craftsman style home. We also added a beautiful patio and a gunite pool greatly increasing the outdoor living spaces. John and his team were attentive to detail, thoughtful, and communicative, always balancing creativity with economics. Their ideas preserved the unique character of the house while bringing it into the 21st century. I could not be more pleased with the result!

During the design phase I was amazed by their creative vision and attention to detail. The building project was extremely well synchronized and accomplished ahead of schedule. We can't speak more highly of John and Jared's expert design and follow through on our renovation. We started the project before the pandemic with John listening carefully to our wish list. Despite the stress and strain of finding a contractor and getting materials during those first two years, we now live in a home that is aesthetically pleasing and smoothly functioning. For a 1750s barn that was last renovated in the 1950s--where there were no straight lines and many historic, hand-hewn beams to preserve--this was no mean feat. John's taste and design sense shine through in the palette of colors, the materials, and the selections of everything from light fixtures to HVAC registers. Jared's attention to detail and execution of drawing specs saved us from many of the contractor's impulsive decisions. They were patient and calm throughout the process, and always had our back when dealing with problems that inevitably arose. We wish we had had a different contractor who was less distracted and uncommunicative/more timely with deadlines, but would work with John and Jared and interior designer Lisa Schroeder again in a second. They are just a wonderfully talented team.

John, Jared, and Dan were vital partners in our near-full renovation of our home. The scope of the project was the entire back of our house, ducting for HVAC, new kitchen, dormer roof expansion, and addition above the garage. Throughout the project, the scope did expand a couple of times and John & co. were well prepared to work with us. Their designs were incredibly thoughtful, practical, and stylish. They took our personal style into account in every fixture and decision. Beyond the stellar design, they were excellent partners in communication with the GC throughout the renovation, and did multiple walk-throughs throughout. They helped trouble-shoot issues that came up during the project, and were very good at sending reminders to the GC to keep things moving during a VERY busy construction season. Now that we've been in for several months, we find ourselves reflecting on the home design aspects with great admiration to John, Jared, and Dan's skills and care in this project.

John and Jared took our burned down house and created a new home in which we want to spend the next few decades. We came to them with only a few concept words and thoughts, and they created a cohesive vision that left no detail unaccounted for. Attempting to construct a house mid-COVID was stressful, but they made the process run smoothly, and were always available to field questions and ideas from us as the build progressed. We would not hesitate to recommend them to friends & family seeking to build a new home, add an addition, or renovation.

John and team were fantastic partners for our renovation, from our first initial meeting to the end, which spanned a year. John spent time to get to know us and understanding the needs for the space. We gave him a few general ideas of what we like, John heard that, and designed every aspect of the renovation, from the little to the big things like cabinet hardware, windows, lighting, tile, floor stain, and wall colors. A renovation is stressful as it is, and so knowing that John was listening to us and providing us with a design plan that resulted in a high end, luxury, and uniform beautiful space was so appreciated. We have already recommended him to other family and friends, and would not hesitate to use his firm again on future projects.

Their attention to detail and oversight ensured the project was completed at a high quality standard. We love the space and would certainly work with them again.

We found John Schroeder on Houzz, so he came with great recommendations. He helped us design and set up a garage and a new decking in our garden. The result is just what we wanted, looks good, serves it purpose and most importantly, John and his people did a wonderful job. Not only the design, but all the paperwork, getting a contractor, arranging the necessary surveys. We where away for the while building period and that was not a problem.

I was so pleased working with John and Jared. They were extremely professional, thoughtful and so talented with their design . I appreciated their patient approach to making the right choices for this project. We worked together with Oxford Builders to complete an amazing re-design of the basement (lower)) and entire first level living. LOVE the finished project!
