It was great working with Devin and his team. They were able to take our vision and turn it into a reality on our whole house design. Throughout the process Mike was able to interpret our vision and vague descriptions into beautiful design that works for us and our lifestyle. The Johnson Squared team did a fabulous job directing the complete remodel of our house. We feel like we are living in a piece of art. They transformed our wishes into our dream house, guiding us with expert advice but at the same time incorporating our visions into the reality. And best of all, they were just plain fun to work with the whole way thru, at every meeting, phone call and email. We would hire them again but that would mean leaving the great home that they have created for us which we don't see happening.

We have done five projects with Devin, from full-house construction to condo remodel. Each time the process has been easy (great sense of humor, fun to work with) and the quality excellent, both in terms of design concept and the thoroughness of detail work. On-going project management has been thorough and complete. It's been a great experience throughout.

The creative team at Johnson Squared made our new home project a joy. The conceptual phase began in November 2014 with an interview in which we shared images of existing homes that appealed to us. Through the six-month discovery process that followed, they took stock of our desire for energy efficiency, modern aesthetic, open entertaining space, and single-level living. It felt like a collaboration of interested parties, not a tutorial on what we "should have" nor a collection of sycophants who blindly follow a design request without identifying potential pitfalls. We felt safe and cared for. Johnson Squared addressed all city and shoreline management design requirements, which are many for a waterfront property in Washington. They helped us set expectations for building costs, which were exceeded by roughly 15%, but only following adaptations requested by us once construction had begun. In area known for high costs, it was a comfort to have a knowledgeable team to keep us focused, moving forward, and financially aware. The house was completed in March of 2017, a design-to-occupancy period of little more than two years.

We built a waterfront home and loved working with Devin Johnson. He brings a high level of professional expertise, experience with shoreline requirements, creative problem solving, and is a delight to work with. We now have a spectacularly beautiful home that exceeds our expectations. We are so glad he was the architect for our project.
