My family and I were dealing with big decisions such as to renovate an old structure or build a new home. After my designer had a meeting with City Planners, we were distraught to discover that our vision of a new home facing the main road would not be allowed; therefore, a renovation to preserve the existing orientation was the better option. I telephoned Jonathan who lived close by and he was surprisingly friendly to educate me on potential issues of my new home's positioning as well as issues of an old foundation. He contacted City Planning on my behalf to clarify issues in case we misinterpreted the zoning requirements. The City's response was cold and terse, despite Jonathan's tactful and warm message. I would recommend Jonathan because I found him outgoing, patient, and generous with his advice.

My wife and I love our home. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working with Jonathan. He listened to our wants and needs and adapted these to our property flawlessly. His patience and attention to detail were flawless.

Jonathan helped us work on an overall master plan of our home when we first bought it in the early 90s. The project spanned 3 phases coming on 20 years later we can't thank him enough! Our work with Jonathan was in three phases and because Jonathan did such a great job the integration from front entry (1990s), to multi-layered deck (2000s) to a complete kitchen and other structural upgrades (2013) have mean that it all works so well. Jonathan also followed through with each phase, giving practical suggestions and highly effective support as required. What more can we say - OUTSTANDING

Working with Jonathan Ehling to design our holiday home with an emphasis on a simple, efficient layout on challenging topography was a pleasure. Jonathan's efforts in first understanding our ideas and preferences and then working to produce a plan on paper was the first and most important piece of the puzzle. He encouraged collaboration in the design process and was skilled at working within our budget constraints and site limitations. We especially appreciated his adherence to our design and floor plan preferences without allowing his tastes or biases to overtake. Our family enjoyed his personable nature, extreme flexibility at meeting with us and his fast turn-around of plan completion. Visiting our site allowed Jonathan to really share our vision and create a design which complemented its beautiful surroundings. We interviewed four architects to design our green home. Jonathan was our choice because he worked with our own design ideas, had built his own off-the-grid home, and was very easy to work with. One of his design tools (Sketchup) really helped us visualize our home in all seasons, at all times of the day, and how it settles into our steeply-sloped lot. It's a wonderful house to live in, especially in the hot summers when it's always comfortable because of natural cross-ventilation and deep eaves. Jonathan designed a craftsman-style home that will always look contemporary, yet classic. We loved working with him. He worked hard to understand our needs, and took the time needed to get it right.

Jonathan is everything you want in a design professional. He is creative, responsive, friendly and above all does great design. He also provides ad hoc advice for future projects when I ask for it. I recommend Jonathan wholeheartedly.
