Couldn't be happier with my decision to select Jonathan as the architect who sublimely transformed my tiny Montauk beach cottage with a loft into an elegant and graceful dwelling all without changing the footprint of the house. Jonathan brought a sense of openness, aeriness, and artistry to his design characterized by minimalism and understated beauty as evident in his selection and positioning of the new light fixtures. He is quite perceptive and knowledgeable in all aspects related to construction and takes pride in his work. For him, light and aestheticism are essential components of his design. The end product is simply better than I could have envisioned evoking a sense of calmness and beauty.

Fantastic!! Jonathan helped us with a huge upgrade to our home. The renovation not only looks great, but also matches our taste (modern beach and surf house). It's everything we wanted out of the renovation.

We engaged Jonathan to take on a challenging renovation project that was already underway. From our first meeting on site we were confident we were in good hands. In 2022 we hired Jonathan to design our pool and deck. Our experience with Jonathan was excellent and we are thrilled with the final results. We engaged Jonathan to design and oversee the construction of our new home. Jonathan was a consummate and skilled professional during all phases of this project. It started with his ability to listen to the needs of two inexperienced clients who were building a home for the first time and needed an education in the process in addition to a creative solution. Jonathan patiently stuck with us through many turns and twists of discovery and evolving requirements. At each iteration and step in the process, Jonathan provided creative and unique ideas to keep the project rolling. Two of the many qualities he brings are creativity and mastery of the materials, keeping to our vision. Jonathan's design is one of a kind, reflects a thoughtful yet also economic use of materials that is based on a profound knowledge of home construction, and has resulted in a home that far exceeds what we could have imagined. The home is just so livable and also so aesthetically pleasing -- a true masterpiece. We also would be remiss if we did not mention his diligent oversight of the construction, faithfully representing our interests to the builder and following through at every step in the process to ensure quality. As we were remote geographically, Jonathan was our eyes and ears on the ground throughout construction, keeping us current via frequent phone calls, emails, and pictures. We would highly recommend Jonathan for custom construction projects.

We hired Foster Architecture to redo an outdated master bathroom that was out of step with the rest of our home. When we saw the plans we were so excited. His aesthetic is deeply developed and sohpisticated yet warm and human. From the design phase to execution he was completely hands on. His beautiful design coupled with his attention to the details created a spectacular bathroom. We are thrilled.

My husband and I contracted Jonathan Foster Architects to redesign part of our house to be more light-filled and livable. Jonathan's elegant, simple and cost-effective ideas include changing our entryway to be more useful, expanding our kitchen southward for more light, and rearranging two bedrooms and a downstairs bath for better use. We know of other East Hampton homes and projects he has designed, and we completely trust his artistic eye, quality of workmanship and attention to detail. He is a pleasure to work with.

Jonathan was the architect on an extension of our house in East Hampton that increased the size of the house by about 50% and included a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Jonathan has great vision and execution. He had ideas for our house that have dramatically changed the living space. Most importantly, he cares deeply and is very hardworking. His oversight of the contractor is without compare, and his willingness to see the project though, notwithstanding delays that are not of his making, is incredible and well beyond the call of duty. We would recommend him without hesitation. The house looks amazing, and it's thanks to Jonathan!

Foster Architecture does beautiful and well-conceived work. His approach to problem solving is both professional and calm. My project was a renovation of a 1970’s builder’s contemporary that was visually disorganized inside and out. Foster re-organized and balanced the spaces, completely transforming the interior and exterior with small aesthetic changes throughout, while integrating the building into the surrounding land, giving the house an up-to-date 21st Century look and quality. Foster’s knowledge of the aesthetic use of materials is comprehensive and creative. I highly recommend his work and look forward to working with him again in the future.
