Commented: exposed joists, love 'em! what about noise?My clients have not mentioned noise as an issue, but if you were doing a gut renovation you could add roll out insulation to the floor above prior to laying new floor.

Commented: Vent and water connectionsA portion of the countertop lifts off to expose piping, vent duct, etc. and there is enough room to access/disconnect the water supply and hose connections.
