Denise is just terrific. I'm working with her on a major renovation and new build for deck. The project has many complexities, and she handles them all with professionalism, creativity, attention to detail and great ideas. She truly listens to her clients’ needs and incorporates that input into her plans. She actively solicits feedback on the plans and again adjusts if and as needed for that input. She is a great architect. If you're looking for an architect, look no further. She's the best!

We used Denise as an architect/designer for our complete renovation of a 1950’s cape in Old Saybrook, CT. (2018/2019) She maximized our existing space, added a garage, sunroom, mudroom addition, and gave us glorious water/marsh views from every room. She was a joy to work with because first, she listened, second, she had vision, and third, she was accessible. The best decision we made, and money we spent, was using Denise ❤️

Denise is easy to work with, unpretentious and very talented. Her design of a Gambrel for us is all we could ask for, though still under construction. Denise remains available to our Contractor if design questions arise as she is as invested in our design as we are. My family was initially looking to do a major renovation of an expanded 1950's lake cottage which ultimately turned into a complete teardown and new house build. The property had numerous design challenges from both an environmental and town zoning standpoints. Denise was recommended to us by friends that had used her for various projects, and we were not disappointed. In fact, she exceeded our expectations in every way. She is very professional, extremely flexible, and takes the time to listen to your needs and wants. In the end, you are rewarded with not just a house but a home.

We undertook a significant renovation of a newly purchased home which included adding bathrooms, converting an existing room into the kitchen, rerouting the flow pattern, creating a butler's pantry, coffee and wine station, adding an addition and repurposing the old kitchen cabinets to add storage to a third floor workroom. Denise listened carefully to our concerns and our goals. Her suggestions and subsequent renderings achieved more than we thought possible. Her always cheerful demeanor, "can do" attitude and resourcefulness not only made her a pleasure to work with but also took away a great deal of the stress associated with managing a major project. Her solutions were creative, beautiful and well-suited to the existing structure. We could not imagine a better outcome.

We reached out to Denise to help us with a thoughtful renovation of our 1813 house, having previously seen and liked other projects she had done. Denise was professional and knowledgeable about old houses, and was sensitive to our goals. She produced a great design that corrected several problems with the house and made it comfortable with the modern conveniences we wanted while keeping the antique flavor of the house intact. The house now suits us beautifully. Denise was great to work with, a good listener and honest and forthright with her opinions.

Denise Von Dassel is an innovative thinker and gifted architect who specializes in maximizing small spaces. And she did just that with our coastal Connecticut property taking it from a mediocre 1960s 1 3/4 story bungalow style house to an impressive contemporary 2 story home with abundant windows that let the gorgeous river and Long Island Sound views pour into the house. She is a great collaborator who has worked hand in glove with our contractor and the many other tradesmen involved in our complex phased renovation. Her knowledge of regulatory requirements, engineering and construction, and design make it possible to guide projects in the right direction. We continue to work with Denise and her company KV Designs on a variety of new sub projects unfold.
