LEAP Architecture

LEAP designed an amazing new facility that supports Capital Roots' mission to provide healthy food access, nutritional and horticultural education, and urban greening programs. The new building includes a local food marketplace, food processing hub, community space and co-working commercial kitchen spaces. The expansion had to go through multiple design iterations and budgeting efforts, and LEAP Architecture stuck with us throughout the entire project, helping us overcome the hurdles we encountered and providing the design, value engineering, redesign, and project management necessary to successfully complete the project. Working with LEAP was a terrific experience!

We hired Eric of LEAP Architecture to design the elevation, and redesign of our home. It has been a long process with a lot of red tape and setbacks, through which Eric and everyone at LEAP has been patient, supportive and informative. LEAP worked with us to satisfy NYS Historic Preservation requirements while also designing in our vision for the project. The project has been a transformative, yet historically sensitive, transition for our house to a new level of resiliency and sustainability. My husband and I hired LEAP Architecture to redesign the second floor of our home including the master suite, loft and laundry area. Eric was terrific to work with. I am a general contractor that worked with Eric Davenport of LEAP Architecture on a project, transforming an old worn down ranch in to a modern state of the art home. Eric's out of the box thinking and streamline designs made this one of our most unique projects to date. From a builders stand point working with an Architect can be very difficult. Trying to translate their ideas into functional features often becomes a point of contention costing time and money to resolve issues. With Eric, this was not the case. His extremely detailed drawings and his availability to answer questions allowed us to collaborate and bring his designs to life. LEAP Architecture designed our modern, green addition. The final product is above an beyond expectations! LEAP was creative, detailed and thorough. I’ve been working with Eric Davenport of LEAP Architecture for a few months. I started with a stock house plan that didn’t fully meet my needs, and was not really designed for the Northeast climate. Eric made extensive revisions, both to the floor plan, elevations, and the structural requirements to meet NYS codes, in coordination with an engineer of his choosing. Despite having experience in the construction trades, I was apprehensive about hiring an architect to do design work on a personal home. However, we gained immediate rapport and he was totally flexible and respected my own contributions to personalize the final design. He came up with innovative ideas and is up to date on “best practices” and modern building materials, unlike several other architects I interviewed before hiring Eric. I’m a fairly rigid and demanding client, and already owned a challenging waterfront building lot. It was my goal to “age in place” in this home, as there is a distinct possibility of needing a wheelchair in future years, so those accommodations were incorporated in the work Eric did. The home is a very traditional design, reminiscent of a small 1930s farmhouse, and Eric’s personal tastes run toward neo-modernism, yet he understood my tastes and had the breadth of experience and training to “switch gears”. Fees are fairly priced, and I also know he did work beyond his billable hours on his own dime to ensure a successful project. Overall: 100% satisfaction working with Eric of LEAP Architecture, and I would recommend him to others looking for both commercial and residential architecture services.

Eric from LEAP Architecture was friendly and helpful in identifying a systemic issue with my home that had escaped the notice of the builders.
