We thoroughly enjoyed working with Luis and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to start from scratch or do a major renovation. He reimagined what our home could be for us - but within the existing footprint given it’s a townhouse - which was challenging. The kitchen space is the star of the show - and overall, our home (smaller at just 2,000 square feet) seems twice as large as it did because each space has a purpose that fits our lives…. And it’s beautiful!

Luis came highly recommended from a friend and we immediately felt comfortable in conversations about our ideas for the renovation. Luis understood our budget constraints while supporting our vision for a cool modern addition for our 1930’s home. He was helpful in the transition of rooms from old to modern and had great ideas for lighting and windows. He is highly knowledgeable on materials for the exterior of the house and provided us with multiple designs options. Our biggest challenge was our contractors who were new to building modern structures, but Luis was a huge support in discussing construction and materials with the contractor and helped to solve many issues in a timely fashion. We put in a 12-foot island in the kitchen and an induction stove which we love! I highly recommend you reach out to Luis Boza Architect for your next project!

I highly recommend Lou Boza as the architect to work with when planning a renovation or new build. After my daughter was born, it became clear that we needed more functional space in our 1940’s cape cod, particularly in our kitchen, as our old kitchen afforded nearly zero counter space and storage. We met with several architects before settling on Lou, and right from the beginning what sold us was Lou’s responsiveness and professionalism during the early proposal phase. Our project involved redesigning and expanding the kitchen using the square footage from our enclosed back porch, gaining roughly 120 square feet; and, building a new covered front porch, improving the usability of the front yard and vastly improving the curb appeal. The new porch required a considerable amount of hardscaping, as the increased load from the porch on the hillside dictated that a new retaining wall be built. Lou was instrumental in helping us obtain county approval for the new porch and upgraded kitchen; effectively communicating information between us, the county, the inspectors, and the builder. Throughout the entire process, Lou helped us think through what we needed in order to make the space function well, and really listened to what we wanted from the space, which was borne out in his high-quality, detailed design/s. Our esthetic skews slightly modern; however, our cape cod is very traditional; Lou was able to seamlessly marry the two esthetics together, such that the addition when completed looked like it had always been a part of the original design. Lou guided us through the entire process, helping us choose design features, as well as materials that would complement the new design and would mesh well with the existing infrastructure. I would highly recommend Lou as an architect to anyone looking to update and expand their existing house or seeking to create a new home from scratch. As an added bonus, he is very familiar with Arlington, VA county requirements, and is adept at submitting plans that get APPROVED. Lou also served as our project manager--effectively advocating on our behalf to the builder to ensure the final project met the design specifications-- effectively handling any issues that arose during the build. Again, I can’t recommend Lou Boza enough for your next project.

Lou and his team from Reform were fantastic in our long overdue master bathroom remodel. We needed more than just an idea, and he put together a framework to determine what our needs were in a way that made sense for us. Additionally, his knowledge of construction (not just design, but materials, trades, and actual execution) were much needed along the way. We kept the project right below budget and was on time

Working with Lou was such a refreshing change after a past renovation we did with a design-build company. This time, we really saw how much of a difference great design makes. He brought so much creativity and thought to every part of the project—finding smart, beautiful ways to use spaces we hadn’t even considered. The remodel and addition feel effortless and totally transformed how we live in our home. It was 100% worth it—we ended up with something better than we ever thought possible.

After years of living with a dated bathroom, I finally took the plunge and hired an architect to reimagine the space. From our first meeting, it was clear I had made the right choice. Lou listened attentively to my vision for a modern, open retreat and quickly grasped what I was hoping to achieve. What impressed me most was his ability to blend practical solutions with innovative design. He brought forward recommendations that hadn't occurred to me—clever storage solutions, lighting that transformed the mood, and materials that were both beautiful and functional. I am in love with the transformation! My bathroom was is now my sanctuary - and it actually feels twice the size. Throughout the project, Lou was responsive, professional, and made the process surprisingly stress-free. His collaborative approach meant I felt involved at every stage without being overwhelmed by decisions. If you're considering a bathroom renovation, I cannot recommend Lou highly enough. He exceeded my expectations, and the space has truly become the refreshing retreat I had hoped for.

We worked with Lou on two major projects: an attic renovation with a rooftop addition and a retaining wall for our corner lot. Both turned out beautifully, surpassing our expectations in every way. At the same time, we had to wrangle with the demanding (and difficult) DC permitting process. When we hit challenges, Lou was always a responsive and clear communicator to ensure we could meet the city's requirements without compromising what we wanted.

Lou was fantastic to work with! He worked with us on a complete house renovation - most importantly where we made structural changes. We added a second floor over an open living room, and adding that to the existing second floor space, redesigned it all to add 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and a movie/music room with a large bar area. There were so many considerations that we would not have thought about, and Lou’s ideas and recommendations were great - he understood through consultation with us how we were going to use each space and truly made the blank canvas of a huge open space into a beautiful finished living space, adding significant value to our home. Lou was great to work with - he listened to what we were looking to do in a major remodel of our second floor, made suggestions and offered considerations we’d not thought of earlier. He even lightly sketched with us to demonstrate those suggestions and considerations, which he then finalized into 3 options that met our needs.
