Mark designed and supervised a major renovation of with an addition to our 1890’s cottage in Ruxton. He respected the integrity of the original design while creating a functional, very beautiful and livable interior.
We are really delighted. Mark is an exceptionally capable architect, easy to work with. He was collaborative, efficient, available and patient with us. When we encountered a challenge, Mark typically described multiple alternative solutions, allowing us to make good choices.
We recommend him with enthusiasm and confidence, our contractor would say the same about his work with Mark.

I have worked with Mark Mobley professionally for several years. I have only heard great things from his clients - the quality of his work and his professionalism. And since our professions overlap (I am a landscape architect), I find him easy and extremely pleasant to work with. I look forward to future collaborations with him and his team!

Mark is a knowledgeable and detail oriented Architect. During our renovations he was there to share his ideas and explain how he got there while always listening to our concerns.
Under full disclosure, Mark has been a friend for well over 25 years so not only can I tell you that he is a good person, but is a friend that I have hired twice before and would use again and again. How many friends would you work with and still be friends?

Mark has worked with me on a variety of projects over the past 18 years. My house is ~45 years old and was custom designed by a firm of 2 (then) young architects: a post-and-beam contemporary on a steep, heavily wooded 3+ acre lot. In 1996 I asked one of the original architects to recommend someone to design a sleeping deck: he recommended Mark.
Mark designed a detached, elevated, screened deck connected with the house by a short bridge which smoothly continues the original lines and spirit of the house. A very nice feature of his design is a screened clerestory which quietly echoes the glass clerestory of the main house (a feature which I had requested of the original architect!) and creates the sense of a single organic design. I very much enjoy both the the concept and the realization.
More recently, Mark has also provided concepts and designs for a very successful complete kitchen remodel, which not only looks and works well but opens up the overall feel of the entire floor. Also, on several ocasions I have employed Mark to act as an advisor or consultant for various smaller projects, and we are currently planning for an extended upgrade and remodelling effort. I especially value his strong sense for the design of my house and the challenges of working with an existing structure with its own unique character.
Mark is not only talented and experienced architect, he is also a good listener, a willing but respectful critic, and works well with contractors and subs. I would strongly recommend him for any architectural project.

I love my new house! I worked with Mark over the course of several years (my speed, not his) and developed a design for a new house to build on an existing foundation. The process was fun and resulted in a design that exceeded my vision. The build went very smoothly with no real issues, and was completed in about 8 months. Very satisfied with all aspects of the adventure.

Mark met with us several times to design a space that has far exceeded our expectations for efficiency, flow and aesthetics. We now have a large and sunny kitchen with an eat-in area that accommodates our family of four. Mark managed to design this new space almost entirely within the existing footprint of the house - quite a challenge given the small size of our duplex. He also designed a very pretty deck that ties together the kitchen and outdoor space, and improves access to our newly finished basement. We really appreciated his attention to detail - he made sure that all new construction aligned with the style and features of our 1920s house. Mark came recommended to us by a friend, and we're really happy with the way things turned out.

It was a pleasure to work with architect, Mark Mobley, on our kitchen and family room addition. From start to finish, Mark listened attentively and provided design solutions that not only tackled our needs and met our budget concerns, but at the same time, kept the architectural integrity and style of our 100 year old house in tact. We found Mark to be responsive and helpful, and effective in communicating his design concepts, including choice of quality materials, to our builders. The whole process went much smoother than expected, thanks in large part to Mark's keen eye, expertise and experience. We couldn't be happier with our new home.

We have hired Mark Mobley for several home renovation projects, including a redesign of the front entrance to our house, and a complete remodel of the first floor living space. Mark is professional, meets deadlines, and works hard to meet your design goals within your budget. Mark works well with others and has provided referrals to contractors who performed quality work within our budgetary constraints. We appreciate Mark's pragmatic approach and his ability to identify and satisfy his client's priorities with an attractive, functional design. In redesigning our front entrance, Mark significantly improved our home's curb appeal with a design that fits with our 1920s home and that now looks like an original feature. In helping us remodel our kitchen, Mark offered several design options. We ultimately selected a design that utilized the house's existing footprint by reconfiguring the entire first floor to greatly improve function and open up views to the woods behind our home. His design received an award that year from our neighborhood association for the best home design.

We are very happy with the home that Mark designed for us on Saint Leonard Creek in Southern Maryland. Our project presented several challenges; a small building platform with severe slopes on three sides, critical area and other building restrictions that come with waterfront construction, and two owners with no home building experience. We found Mark to be a patient and attentive listener, and easy to work with. He designed a home with attractive roof lines with generous overhangs. Large glass windows give us water views from every room. His careful attention to details and choice of high quality materials allowed our builder and his crew to proceed efficiently and resulted in a home that my husband and I enjoy very much.

Mark Mobley not only thinks about the design aesthetic, he's practical as well (a combination that we found really important in working to figure out how to live a modern life in a really old house). We hired Mark to design and oversee construction of a new kitchen addition, including a screened-in porch, to our 100 year old Roland Park house in Baltimore City. His vision created an addition that is seamless with the rest of the house. He was extremely conscientious about making sure that the practical details worked (e.g., how far the dishwasher was from kitchen cabinets; the ingress and egress into the room based on how we as a family planned to use the space, etc.). He also was very willing to listen to our questions and concerns and certainly was not wedded to only his ideas on how best to create the space. We subsequently hired Mark to design plans for transforming an additional bedroom on the 2d floor into a master bath and closet. Again, he was pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him.

-Architect on our kitchen/pantry/mudroom gut renovation and addition in our 100 year old historic home.
-Good listener, able to quickly translate our desires to plans. Quickly understood our lifestyle and aesthetic style. Excellent, functional but appropriate design for a historic home
-Did several iterations efficiently to give us different layout options in the kitchen. Didn't start with something out of our described scale in fact we had to push him to consider expansion as he was cost-conscious for us.
-Did not try to overdo the desired services, but produced a very good set of permit/construction drawings that the builder could build from with very few questions or clarifications.
-We only needed a little help during the construction process, but he was very responsible, helpful and efficient.
-Friendly personality, easy to get along with, but insisted on high quality end-product.
-Thrilled with new kitchen, beautiful and practical. Many say it looks more original to the house than the old kitchen did!

Mark was able to come in and get his redesigned plans through one of the most difficult Architectural Site Review Boards in all of California when our original architect was not able to finish the job. This custom home met all of my needs. Mark was able to translate my verbal descriptions of my design ideas into a cost effective, buildable product. His understanding of how to best utilize this tricky job site made a great difference from other architects that were engaged in the project. This project could never had been done without his guidance and expertise.
