At first, we hesitated to consider Marken for our Passive House project because we reside in the East Coast of the USA. We received multiple offers from local professionals, and Marken’s proposal was not only the most competitively priced, but also the most comprehensive one. Alexander and Katerina understood our vision early on and translated it into a beautiful modern design, while observing our budgetary constraints. Marken’s team’s technical skill was as impressive as its ability to provide an outstanding client service experience. We will certainly call Marken for future Passive House projects, and needless to say, we recommend them highly.

Working with Alex, you get the complete package. We hired Marken Design + Consulting due to their experience and knowledge with single family design. His attention to detail was excellent, as well as the flow of the entire process. We always stayed on track with each step. When you work with Alex you get the sense that they can design anything you want. I like the style that Marken Design + Consulting is known for, but I also feel that nothing is out of reach with their capabilities and organization. Finally, the continued interest to design to the highest performance and quality of Passive House is no easy feat. Even though our recent project was not a certified Passive House, I have no doubt that this is easily achievable with Marken Design + Consulting. Bill

Marken Projects delivered consistent, skilled, and professional passive house design service to help fulfill our aspirations. The archiect's organization and intelligence maneuvering Municipal permits (lengthy, intricate processes for 3 permits) over 1.9 years, in consultation with Marken's director, were admirable. Their commitment to low energy/ passive design is progressive and grounded in sustainable energy principles. The interior and exterior design--of our first-in-Vancouver near-passive low energy in-fill house--is beautiful. We are grateful for the respectful, personal, and compatible engagement we have had with Marken and highly recommend them without reservation.

I worked with Alex Maurer and his firm Marken Projects, on the City of Fort St. John's Passivhaus project. They have been involved from conception to completion. They were retained to complete the architectural drawings, issued for construction drawings and some project management for the project. Furthermore, they assisted with the necessary energy modelling and certification process related to the Passivhaus standard. They are a very progressive and innovative firm, with excellent time management and project management skills. I believe they have delivered on more certified Passivhaus projects than anyone else in Canada. I highly recommend working with Alex and his team. Not just because they are on the leading edge of affordable energy efficient and sustainable design, but because they do things on time and on budget as well!
