Pittsburgh native Maximilian J. Mavrovic AIA founded the firm Mavrovic Architects PC in 1993. With his strong motivation, a young support staff, and limitless opportunities in the foreseeable future, he launched a design studio in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh. During his professional career, after graduating from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1983, Max served as vice-president at two of the largest architectural firms in Pittsburgh where he was responsible for client relations, staff supervision, project design, construction budgets, and schedules.
The small boutique-size office ensures personal service for you and project continuity from start to finish. The needs of each client and every project are responded to personally by professional staff members through in-depth investigation and careful research. Design solutions are developed that exceed client objectives, meet completion schedules, fall within construction budgets, and satisfy the aesthetic goals of staff creatives. Client participation, input, and ideas are encouraged and considered throughout all steps of the design process.
For each project, interviews are conducted with stakeholders to establish design criteria and project objectives. First-hand experience with new construction and renovation projects is a prerequisite for employment. For new buildings, a site analysis is conducted considering ecological impacts on the building design and impact of the building on the nearby environment. For building renovations and additions, existing conditions are carefully documented and building systems are analyzed for suitability with the future plan. Current safety, building, energy, and accessibility codes and zoning regulations are researched for all projects.
After pre-design investigations are made and documented, a concise program document is developed as the roadmap that will define the desired project goals and outcomes. A project budget is established based on the approved program, and is rigorously followed for the duration of the project. A project schedule timeline is developed with input from the client and construction professionals. Our decades of project experience have shown that this process virtually eliminates unanticipated results and provides the necessary resources to complete projects on time and on budget.
