About Us

Moore Design Works is a design firm specializing in design, interiors, custom furniture and fabrication. Founder Emily Moore spent eleven years working as a designer in Genoa, Italy. She had the great privilege of working at the Renzo Piano Building Workshop where she completed three major museum projects. After serving as the on site Project Manager for the construction of the addition to the Kimbell Art Museum, Emily founded MDW in Houston, Texas.

Emily is creative and resourceful! She is a pleasure to work with! She worked within my budget for a bathroom remodel, and I couldn't be happier! She quickly figured out my tastes, presented me with options that didn't overwhelm me, and I LOVE the finished product! I would highly recommend her and will DEFINITELY use her again in the future.

I contacted Emily Moore for interior paint color and design assistance. She listened and understood what I was looking for and delivered a project that far exceeded my expectations, from a design and creativity aspect. She presented the project with photos of my house with her design laid over. This made decision making easy (it looked great) and helped inspire my husband who is not as visually creative. I recommended her to a friend, who I know was also happy with her work.

We have now hired Moore Design twice - once in August '16 and then again in March '17. Both experiences have been perfect. She helped us remodel the master bedroom, paint, carpet, and add a cut through dog gate. She also helped with fixtures, lighting, and hardward. The second experience was to add built ins to our living area - they are perfect! They look like they have always been there and we especially love the barn door doors that can shut to cover our TV. We found her to be reasonable and very thorough. She even walked the carpenter through on several of the projects with measurements, etc. We can't recommend her enough! We absolutely love our new home thanks to Moore Design!

Emily was very easy to work with and had very creative design ideas. She worked smoothly and professionally with the builder and sub contractors, always firm with what she wanted and handily incorporating the stats of the project. She is not only an architect but a talented interior designer.

Commented: black wood stainAli, this is actually a burnt wood called shou sugi ban. It is a Japanese technique that preserves and seals the wood without needing any further maintenance. I’m not sure it is recommended to be used...
