Peter Nicholas designed and built a stunning home for us (Hyde Park house). We love having a beautiful home that perfectly fits the way we live. We really enjoyed the design process and the building process went smoothly. Building a home is an enormous financial decision and we felt like we could trust Peter every step of the way.

Working with Peter to photograph his projects has been a very enjoyable process. Hi is a client who not only has a very clear idea of what he wants in his photography but is also a good listener willing to accept suggestions. The ease with which we have collaborated, places him among my favorite clients in a process that can sometimes be stressful if the personal chemistry isn’t right. I highly recommend anyone with a design project large or small to consider working with Peter. His exceptional creativity and comfortable manner are hallmarks of the consummate professional.

The project scope included total gut rehab of existing structure, architectural design of rebuild and general contractor oversight of entire project. Not having done this before, I was very apprehensive going into the project,but I was so excited about Peter's design and vision for the property that I took the risk, There turned out to be zero risk as the project was completed as promised and the end result is amazing. Peter was with us every step of the way which included multiple visits to design studios, cabinet fabricators, marble and stone companies, etc. And he was on site virtually every day until the project was completed. Peter has great vision, but he also listens and made adjustment along the way to make the home the way we wanted. Truly Collaborative!!

Peter was GREAT, I am impressed with his professionalism and his work ethic. My partner and I could not be happier. We went into the whole project with blind faith and Peter never lets us down. If it comes a time again to build another house we would for sure want Peter on our side again.

Peter Nicholas is a phenomenal architect and I could not recommend him more highly. My husband and I chose Peter to gut renovate a 3400 square foot apartment due to among other reasons, his design aesthetic, attention to detail, and the fact that he's just a great person to work with. Peter pushed us out of our comfort zone at times, and in retrospect I am grateful for every time he did so. We built a contemporary home in West Rogers Park with Peter Nicholas and his associates approximately twelve years ago. We also did an addition to this same home afterwards. I am an interior designer and have collaborated with Peter on a few design projects. Peter has an amazing understanding of architecture and design. I found Peter's website a year before we decided we wanted to renovate our home. I knew right away that if we were going to renovate our current home this is who I wanted to design our home. I just needed to convince my husband. We both decided that our current location was where we wanted to be and started on the interview process with several architects. None of them came close to understanding what we want and the style we wanted. We explained to Peter that we both grew up in Chicago, and love every bit of our city's architecture. Concrete, steel, and glass! We also explained to him that we both came from very big families and we needed a place to entertain, but the space needs to be a usable space. We also have young children, and he understood our needs and the kids needs, since he has children himself. We wanted modern and warm. We are a Chinese family so I requested that the house should be Feng Shui. When he came to show us the options. My husband and I was just in love. He did everything we wanted in the space and even Feng Shui the house. We picked the option that worked for us, and had minimal changes. Peter and his team listen to us and also made sure that our space was big enough for what we needed. Peter and his team also helped us with choosing the design elements for the house, and now the rest is history! We are 95% completed and we love every inch of this house. Can't wait to move in. We have gotten so many compliments from our neighbors, and they can't wait to see the inside.

My wife and I hired Peter Nicholas to assist us with a gut rehab that we did on a condominium we purchased through a short sale. Peter did a masterful job coming up with innovative and creative solutions to get the maximum use out of the space, while at the same time giving life to the modern aesthetic we envisioned. Not only did he find a way to transform the space from a 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom into 4 bedroom/3 bathroom, he also found a way to harmonize the building's vintage charm with our contemporary palette. Peter offered valuable advice and guidance, but also listened carefully to our needs and concerns. While our project ended up costing a bit more than we anticipated, Peter tirelessly worked with us to keep our costs low - often taking time on the weekends to go with us to vendors to help us make informed decisions. In the end, we couldn't have been more pleased with Peter's services and we are already brainstorming ideas for our next project with Peter.
