I consulted on design for upcoming project-long range plans
I consulted with Mr Noyes on a long range project to do with restoration/renovation of an older home.
He was extraordinarily responsive and kind enough to discuss ideas and
offer insights that I greatly appreciated. He was one of a very few who was
be open minded to working out logistics of remote location and protracted time frames.
I very much look forward to possible collaboration with him as things come together.
His design work appeals to me as being simple yet sophisticated, respectful of nature, and intelligent living space that is inviting and personal.

Nick Noyes did the remodel of our mid century modern house in Santa Barbara. We wanted to update the house by being faithful to its design essence but give it a modern edge. And of course all in a tight budget! We interviewed various architects but decided to go with Nick Noyes even if it meant that he was an out of town architect. Mostly our decision was based on seeing an unusual combination of sophisticated/modern design, high caliber accomplishments, pragmatic/budget oriented designs, an unassuming personality for a person with such high accomplishments and distinguished educational background, and an outgoing personality. In addition, we called about 5 client references and there was an incredible consistency and enthusiasm about his work and persona. Now, with the house finished we can say that working with Nick was extremely rewarding and easy, even though he was in San Francisco and we were in Santa Barbara. It confirmed our earlier impressions and those expressed by others about his design, creativity, budget conscious decisions, attention to detail, responsiveness to issues we would raise about the contractor and friendly style. We often have a really difficult time making recommendations to others about professional work because we feel most people fail to live to one's expectations in terms of attention to detail, work quality, etc. Nick Noyes is the exception to this rule. He is a find. That is why some people I had talked to were embarking on their 2nd or 3rd home construction projects with Nick.

Nick Noyes designed the complete remodel of my house - turning it from a cute 1950's ranch house to an elegant modern home with great use of the existing space. The house has beautiful light, is open and warm, and takes full advantage of the lot and the view. We have lived in it happily for over 5 years. Nick was a pleasure to work with - always respectful, a good listener, and trustworthy. He worked collaboratively with the contractor, engineer, inspectors etc. and kept an eye out for budget and time. He is experienced and has a great aesthetic. I highly recommend him. His work is beautiful and classic.

We have completed two "down-to-the-studs" house renovations with NNA, including one with a 500sf addition. Each time we were impressed with the team's communication and extremely thorough, all-important construction documents, as well as their on-site monitoring and managing of the contractors. These folk are thorough, conscientious and calm. Their elegant modernism is the self-evident result.

NNA has designed a study, a fireplace and a garden for our primary residence. We have been very happy with all three of these projects.
NNA also designed a vacation beach house for us 13 years ago which is as wonderful now as when we built it. Two townhouses which NNA designed are under construction presently. We love Nick's aesthetic. He's wonderful to work with, very collaborative, and highly professional. We give him our highest recommendation.

Commented: Cedar shingle panels or individual shingles? These were individual shingles - the panels can be fine - certainly easier on the budget - they look pretty good.
