If you don’t want to read through dozens of sentences, let me summarize: Woody is simply the best! You can look far and wide, but you won’t find a better architect and designer for your remodeling/building project. Last year we bought a mid-1970’s era house that hadn’t been updated in over 30 years. We saw a lot of potential in the house, but had no idea how to start the renovation process. So we first interviewed 4 well-known design-build firms in Atlanta. The results were disappointing – they all wanted to pigeon-hole us into renovation plans they felt comfortable with. When we pointed out things we wanted to change, they hemmed and hawed and finally said “well, maybe there’s something we could do with that, but it will be really expensive”. We were, frankly, shocked that these other companies had been running home renovation businesses for so many years and hadn’t developed the skills and flexibility to meet their customers’ needs. At the same time, we were also looking through Houzz, and Woody’s firm popped up. We loved the portfolio of work he had done, and invited him to look at our house. At the first meeting, Woody immediately put us at ease with his expertise and creativity. For each issue we raised (the unfriendly outside entrance, the dreary entryway, the rooms with weird dimensions, the dark interior, the dated porch, the non-existent master suite), he was able to suggest 3-5 different solutions and said they were all readily do-able. When we raised concerns about moving walls, he convincingly explained that it was not a big deal at all – they did it all the time. We went through a few revisions of the plans, and each time when we pointed out things we wanted to change he had plenty of alternative ideas. He was also very respectful of our budget limitations, and very responsive to our (numerous) inquiries. During the remodeling, we regularly sent Woody images from Houzz of the general style/look we were going for, and he would propose colors and styles for us to choose from (he also understood that we got overwhelmed with too many choices, so he would keep his suggestions to manageable number !). He patiently “held our hands” through every design decision (plumbing, cabinetry, countertops, paint, lighting, flooring, etc), and really wanted to make sure we were happy with every choice we made. Now that the remodeling is complete, its clear that Woody is not only an excellent architect, but he has a great sense of styles and colors. The entire project has come together better than we could have possibly hoped for! Let me emphasize again: if you are getting ready to start a remodeling project you really need to talk with Woody. You won’t be disappointed.

We used Norwood Architects on a complete residential renovation project. Woody took the time to understand what we wanted in a home. He was able to take our initial 'rough' vision and translate that into a finished product that was exactly what we wanted. I used Woody and Norwood Architects for 3 separate projects over the course of 8 years. Woody's professionalism, creativity and architectural talent are unmatched. He has an amazing ability to interview the client, read the client's interests and style, and then create a vision that exceeds the expectations of the client. Norwood designed a custom built home for us, and has helped us update and remodel our current home which is 35 years old. Norwood Architects and Norwood Builders designed and executed an extension and remodelling of our existing 1950 house, adding a 3-car basement garage with , two bedrooms, two bathrooms a laundry room and a pantry on the main house level. A new hallway, front porch and stone steps were required . The project included extending the existing electrical and plumbing systems, and a new heat-pump HVAC system to cover the new areas. The garage is fitted with fire-protection sprinklers. New roofing was installed over most of the existing house to match the new section. Norwood Architects modified the facade of the existing building to match the new section. The architect was very responsive to our requirements and suggestions, as was the builder. Although the project took a little longer than expected due to bad weather delaying the foundation work, we are very pleased with the final result. And the final cost was 9% under our original budget estimate.

I worked with Woody on Two different projects. One was our 1982 home that we purchased in 2005 and needed to do Major Major renovation. He was such a delight to work with. He had so much patience with me as I changed my mind over and over. He is original and creative and pays a lot of attention to details. I recommend Norwood Architects because I have worked with them and I will go back and only use them for my next project. Large or Small.

We hired Norwood Architects to renovate our office space within an existing building. The came up with a marvelous design that included bold graphics, efficient use of limited space and a calm and soothing atmosphere. We were very pleased with the result as well as with the excellent service.

We are so happy with our experience! The architect and also the GC, Woody was so immersed, dedicated to our project- he guided us when decisions had to be made with excellent communications skills and also humor! It was exciting to see it all happen- and it was on time! We were living in the basement during the renovation and one night, it was storming, pouring rain- and this was before we had the roof completed, and he shows up in the middle of the night just to check on things to make sure water wasn't coming in!
