Ken and Peg are amazingly creative problem solvers, and designed a perfect home addition for us. They were professional as well as a delight to work with as collaborators. Can't say enough good things about them nor their work. Simply the best.

We used Payson Denny first to design our home in 1994, then again when we did a small remodel in 2012. They were always attentive to our wishes, easy to work with and responsive to our communications. They worked with our budget to design a beautiful home that is also comfortable and perfect for entertaining. In addition to the design, they offered us help finding a contractor, structural engineer and aided us during the permit process. Because they have so much experience in the Venice area, they know how to work with the city regulations and bureaucracy. We not only benefited from their excellent creative input but also enjoyed getting to know two very lovely people. We highly recommend them for any architectural project.

I worked with Ken on an addition and remodel of my home and I can't say enough good things about him! Normally you wouldn't think to hire an architect from Santa Fe to work on your home in Los Angeles but Ken is so responsive and focused that it seemed like he was right around the corner. He visited every couple of weeks, always catching minor (yet important) details that added to the professionalism of his work and the final outcome of the job. He always listened to my concerns and reflected them in his plans or explained why they wouldn't work. It has been 7 years since I finished my job and Ken's work has stood the test of time. There have been no areas where I went back and thought "I wish I had..." or "why didn't we...". It all flows perfectly and the work looks great. I am very picky and detail oriented and Ken didn't miss a thing. In addition, Ken is personable, charming, respectful and a true delight to work with. I would recommend him to anyone!

We hired Ken and Peg to do a second story addition to our 1920 craftsman home. The house came out just as we expected and they stayed true to the character of the house. Most people cannot tell the old from the new. Ken and Peg have an amazing sense of space, the three bedrooms we added were the perfect size and flowed together very nicely and we love all the small details that they added to make our house unique. The plans were very detailed which made the entire remodeling process trouble free. Their fees were reasonable. Ken is extremely responsive to all our questions and concerns and really a joy to work with! We love our new house.

We converted an attached garage into a beautiful family room, with eye catching design elements such as wainscot around the walls, a built in bar and sliding glass doors leading onto our patio. Ken Payson and Peg Denny helped us transform our new house in Corrales, New Mexico not only into a warm and welcoming home, but also into a showplace that was selected for the cover of Su Casa magazine. While we were still living in California, they visited the property, took inventory of its liabilities (no light, no flow, no view) and its assets (beautiful adobe, brick, vega beams and lots of traditional charm). Then the visualized how the property could be remodeled to overcome its blemishes and accommodate our lifestyle without encroaching on the style and scale of the surrounding village. The result of their talent and taste is a home we are especially proud of. But the experience of working with these skilled architects also made what could have been a difficult transition very comfortable.

Payson Denney designed the remodel and 2nd floor addition to our California Bungalow in the Milwood Walksteet neighborhood of Venice including assisting us in understanding our needs, translating those needs into fully articulated architectural plans, obtaining all permits and entitlements, referral to contractors, review and selection of contractor, project supervision during construction and interior design selections. In short they did everything and were indispensible. Their design enhanced and even restored the original craftsman details of the home, while providing modern conveniences. The added space allowed our family room to grow without overwhelming the neighborhood, unlike many of the recent 'big box' additions we see of late. The interior wood and tile finishes continue to delight us 20+ years later.

We LOVED working with Payson Denny! We torn down a 100 year old bungalow. Our design concept was contemporary craftsman. Ken & Peg spent months planning every detail. They had such creative interpretations of some of our idea's- like lofts in the kids' rooms. We can't wait to work with this duo on our next dream house.
