About Us
Established in 1996, Pete J. Vallas, A.I.A., Architect is a full service residential architectural firm with a reputation for listening to clients and providing attentive personal service. Our firm has built an extensive portfolio of 'from the ground up' custom residences, major additions and alterations, not-so-major small remodeling projects, historic adaptive reuses, specialty retails shops and houses of worship.
Regardless of style, our work relies heavily on the incorporation of visual axes that organize the plan and lead the eye from room to room and from indoors to outdoors. Rhythm and repetition, balance and proportion, harmony and mathematics; the sophisticated manipulation of these components results in work that appears effortless.
We have countless repeat clients who appreciate that our work is as fresh and timeless a decade later as the day it was completed. For some families we are on second and third homes, as well as working for second generations. We are also proud of our reputation for sticking to clients' budgets and schedules. As stewards of their construction dollars, we know from experience how and where to spend it wisely and make it go the distance.
Working out of a studio above a repurposed single car garage behind his residence in Mobile's midtown, Pete J. Vallas is passionate about his work and interested in hearing about your next architectural project.

After more than 10 years and looking at over 20 houses with us, we finally found the one. Pete was awesome to work with, including conference calls while I was in Kuwait. Pete designed the perfect house for us and we so pleased.

My husband and I had the privilege of working with Pete while building our first home. He was invaluable! He spent hours discussing exactly what we wanted, always provided several different options, and went above and beyond to be sure he was designing the perfect home for our family. I was amazed at his attention to detail and his architectural knowledge. Pete helped with every aspect of the building process and worked wonderfully with us, our builder and all others involved. I learned so much from him during the entire building process and don’t know how I could have done it without him. I feel very lucky that we found him, still consult with him often, and highly recommend him!

Comment from Pete J. Vallas, A.I.A., Architect:
Chris and Jeff were incredible to work for and have become good friends. They went from being architectural novices with no clue what an axis was, to being architectural snobs when seeing something now that they recognize could have been better. Jeff was a stickler for the budget and even made us cut a few items to get the contract price exactly where he wanted it. As construction progressed, and his excitement grew, he was the first one to ask if it was too late to add something back that he had cut earlier. I am as proud of their house as they are. The first time I asked Chris if I could bring a prospective new client through she hesitated for fear the decorating wasn't quite finished enough. But now she is the one leading the tour pointing out axises and details!

My wife and I hired Pete Vallas to design our home in Gulfport, Mississippi. We had spoken with several architects and even hired an architect prior to meeting Mr. Vallas. However, we did not feel that the prior architects were really listening to our ideas. Pete was completely different from the onset. He never said," no, that is not possible", as previous architects had frequently said. Pete simply worked to make it happened. In fact, he enjoyed interacting with my wife and me, especially on the more challenging aspects of our project. He was never a burden to speak with, and he invited all of our ideas. He was thorough, prompt and completely professional. Furthermore, Pete was an excellent intermediary between my wife and me, and our contractor. It is impossible to count how many people have complimented us about our beautiful home, and we have been asked frequently who designed our home (colonial style with a seaside cottage flare). We cannot envision working with any other architect in the future.

Pete Vallas is such a talented architect!!! People stop when I'm in my yard to tell me how beautiful it is and one person asked if I would be interested in selling. The design is perfect and Pete's vision is incredible. He is easy to work with and the only architect I would recommend! I wish I could post a picture so you could see for yourself!!

I have had the pleasure of working with Vallas Architecture on numerous occasions. I have never had anything other than a great experience. Pete Vallas is extremely talented and is one of the best architects I have ever worked with when it comes to listening to what the owner wants and translating it to paper. He has many other talents that I appreciate, one of them is his understanding and grasp of classical architecture. Pete understands proportion and his designs reflect this. Vallas architecture plans are always very detailed which is important for both the contractor and the owner. He understands where detail drawings are needed and provides the appropriate drawings so that there is nothing left to chance. As a contractor for over 25 years, I have had the opportunity to work with many architects. I count Vallas Architecture among the top that I have worked with. In addition to providing excellent plans, they stay involved from concept to completion. I would recommend them without reservation and am always willing to provide a reference.

Pete was a joy to work with. He designed a completely unique home that surpassed our expectations. Pete took the time to really understand what we wanted and how the house would relate to the property. Our home is a treasure! We heartily recommend Pete Vallas to anyone looking for a truly unique custom home.

It has been a true blessing to have worked with Pete on several different projects. He is an utmost professional in every aspect. His attention to detail, his listening skills and desire to create an atmosphere that pleases his clients is his main goal. As a designer myself, I hired Pete to create my own personal home. I would recommend Pete without hesitation and consider him among the top in his league.
