I've always been a little suspicious of working with an architect. I expected grandiose, impractical plans that maxed out my budget. Working with Philip was the direct opposite of my expectations. He took my eyesore of a 50's bungalow and turned it into the house in the neighborhood that people slow down to look at as they drive by. He offered practical solutions, made cost-effective choices, and added thoughtful design elements that were perfectly in keeping with my own personal style, the character of my home, and the neighborhood as a whole. In the initial planning stages he quickly grasped what my needs were - an indication that his listening and comprehension skills are above par - and delivered a plan that addressed all of those needs. Throughout construction he was available to answer questions and consult on design dilemmas. In fact, I wish I had requested his advice more often. It's too bad that I have banned myself from any more renovation projects, because I'd love to work with him again. (I'll consult on yours if you want me to!)

I have had the opportunity to be the general contractor on three of Phillip's projects in the past couple of years, both residential and commercial. He has proven to be a highly conscientious and professional advocate for his owners while also being a detailed oriented and responsive partner in the building process, traits that are invaluable for a successful job. He brings creativity and thoughtfulness to each project and I would recommend his services to anyone looking for a designer for their next undertaking.

Philip Humphrey is wonderful. He completely understood my vision, taste, and most importantly struggles in being a first time home builder. He is calm and patient and delightful to work with. I cannot say enough positive things about him. He is a creative visionary with excellent taste. I would recommend him to first time home builders to people who've built 10 houses! Absolutely 10 stars.
