About Us

Denise Pine Clearwood has been a practicing architect and interior designer for over 32 years and has been working as a sole proprietor for the last 22 of those years. Her passion for architecture and design started back in eighth grade and as they say, the rest is history! Graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture from Georgia Tech and a Masters of Architecture from University of Pennsylvania fueled her desire to merge the art of design and technology. Denise's greatest strength is listening to her clients and problem solving through the opportunities every project highlights. As a registered architect and interior designer, Denise is able to service her clients through every process and decision necessary for the smallest remodel to the design of a new home. Denise is not a "style architect" but rather takes inspiration from her varied years of experience and from her clients' lifestyle, personality and specific needs. She finds the best results when she is able to be involved in a project from start to finish to bring consistency, save money by efficient streamlining and see the clients' vision through to the end. Her passion for the design process is infectious and she is always excited and inspired by her clients and their unique projects.

We have worked with Denise over the past 5 years on various projects with our most recent and largest project being a major remodel which touched almost every room in our home. Denise is a hard working detailed professional who always listens to what we envision while offering solutions that not only surpass our expectations, but have also given us the functionality we really needed. We will continue to recommend her to family and friends as well as anyone we know that is going to be working on a home renovation project. She helps keep things moving and is able to work with contractors to provide on the spot solutions so that the project stays on track. We contracted with Denise Pine Clearwood back in June of 2017 to help us design a new space for our future home. Within the first hour of meeting her We knew she was a good fit. Denise took a lot of time listening about our ideas. She spent time with us at our house to gain understanding about our needs and preferences. We felt included and heard through the entire project. It was total collaboration from the start. We spent time with her at various showrooms picking out finishes. She was always prompt and respectful of our time and most importantly open to different beliefs and a lot of fun to work with. Denise listened to us. She took her time, didn’t rush us, and excelled at thinking outside the box. Two things Denise insisted on: 1) an eye-catching porch and entryway and 2) a gorgeous view through beautiful windows into to our backyard when a person first steps into the house. Strangers walking by our home have stopped to compliment us on our porch. When visitors first walk into our home, they are brought almost to their knees with the stunning view. Our results were wonderful. Even better than we imagined. We wouldn’t change a thing.

Our family has worked with Denise on three large home re-design projects over the past 6 years. First, she reworked our second floor, converting 2 bedrooms, a small bathroom and attic space into 3 large bedrooms, a large full bath, and renovated attic space. Led by Denise's space and design vision, the second floor is now stunning, completely transforming our livable space and home. The second project began as a kitchen renovation and update and became a first floor redesign, at Denise's suggestion. Yet again, Denise's vision dramatically transformed our home and perfectly reflected our living style, far better than we could have ever imagined. The third project was more simple: a renovation of our basement for our sons' hangout space. Denise designed the room, perfectly suited to our budget and boys' level of cool. She is superb, with a superb design eye. She understands her clients and makes recommendations that kick the spaces out of the park! We recommend her all over town!

We have worked with Pine Clearwood Architects on several relatively small remodeling projects over the past 15 years and I give a high recommendation. Denise Clearwood has a very consultative approach, makes smart functional space recommendations and has a fantastic design style. She is good at debating the pros and cons of options and trouble-shooting problems. We have never had any issues and are always happy with the finished result.
