When we decided to build a home on Cape Cod, we presented Polhemus Savery DaSilva with a lengthy list of wants, which we soon learned would, due to zoning restrictions, have to fit into a fairly compact footprint. They listened to our list, but they asked a lot of questions, too. Not just about how we wanted the house to look, but how we’d live in it. Did we like to spend time outdoors? What kinds of clothes would we keep in which closets? What did we like to read? Did we have pets? What kind? How many? After processing all that information, they presented us with genuinely creative ideas for an exquisitely designed house that takes maximum advantage of our waterfront views and functions like a much larger home. Another special benefit of working with PSDAB was the seamless integration of design and execution. By having our architect, Sharon DaSilva, intimately involved with the construction process, she was able to propose a number of small adjustments that made a big difference in the final results. PSDAB also worked closely with our interior designers and landscape architects to create a brand new house that looks and feels like it’s been a part of the Cape for a long time. Every minute we spend in our house reinforces how perfectly it suits us. The unique way PSDAB works with clients, contractors and partner companies is why this is the case. Polhemus Savery DaSilva Architect/Builders has done three major renovations/restorations for us in Chatham over the past 10 years, two of which were in the Old Village and both of them earned Preservation Awards from the Chatham Historical Association. We would never had undertaken projects 2 and 3, if we hadn't had such a great experience on our first project. PSDAB made the process seem simple and logical for us, with no surprises. They were involved prior to the actual purchase of the properties, and helped us focus on the goals of our projects, desires, requirements and details. During this phase they reviewed building and zoning codes, survey information and restrictions, etc. They then provided simple preliminary plans for our review, which evolved into the more detail drawings which were then used to come us with price estimates. Once drawings were finalized, estimates on pricing were given and agreed upon. If we made changes during construction, written approval was always required and changes in cost reflected. No surprises. Construction of PSDAB was of the highest quality and all achieved our goals perfectly. The entire staff was great to work with and made the various projects positive, creative and stress free. Couldn't recommend them highly. Loved working with them.
