As a builder and developer of single family homes I have been a long term client. RD Design is an amazing architectural design teamwork between husband and wife owners, Rafael Castro and Dora Castillo as builder and architect. Together, they are a Tour De Force in contributing to the fast changing urban landscape of Phoenix especially in the downtown areas, by building affordable and chic urban modern houses. Each of their houses has its own unique design with plenty of modern architectural characteristics: open plan layout, high ceilings, glass walls & doors, polished concrete floors, to name a few. Each house is equipped with eco-friendly stainless steel appliances, LED lighting, network-wired, and wired remote access for sound/security systems. I am lucky to have been able to buy one of their houses (one of the brainchild of Dora), and I am very happy with its own simple modern design twist. It has very simple and clean-line floor plan with 10'-13' high ceilings, lots of glass walls, Bosch appliances, glossy white cabinets matching the white quartz countertop of the kitchen island and kitchen counters. I love the exposed concrete block walls jotted to the vaulted ceilings in the interior and exterior of the house, which is widely used to this day in modern/contemporary houses, condos and buildings in the valley since it was introduced by a Mexican architect that became popular in 1950s and 1960s. Lastly, Rafael and Dora are there immediately whenever I need a helping hand in the house. RD Design is all about building the defining affordable architecturally unique homes in the valley.

RD Design is amazing. They designed and built an incredible New Century Modern home in Mid-Town Phoenix that was exactly what I was looking for! Dora Castillo is the architect and her husband Rafael Castro is the site supervisor and what a team they make. Far from ordinary, the design is simple, elegant, and functional. LED lighting, polished concrete floors, alarm, audio, and security systems, and very low maintenance materials make living here very carefree. When I added an additional an additional garage, there was no question that RD Design was the one to integrate the design and build it in a way that complemented the rest of the home. I'm very pleased with the work done and highly recommend them.

I am the past Vice President & Treasurer of the Longview West Neighborhood Association ( 20 years). I had the opportunity of personally touring the house at 802 E. Fairmount in February of this year. The house is beautiful - inside and out. I do believe the home has made a real impact on Fairmount and for our community, which is from Osborn to Indian School Rd. and from 7th St. to 12th St. The community is an older neighborhood and tends to be transient in nature due to rental activity. The construction of this home has encouraged more pride in our community, with the improvement of other homes and home ownership in the neighborhood. I have observed other homes built by the RD Design Team and they are equally beautiful. The concept of what The RD Design Team does is innovative and very receptive to communities such as ours.
