We met with Rick to discuss a simple but unusual home design based on what travelers might find in a west Texas frontier military post. Rick was quick to seize upon our concept and translate it into a modern way of living. Rick led us on a pathway of discovery as together we explored the design of this house. In the end, we'll say to our visitors, "Welcome, we're glad you're here -- please come in to see what makes us happy."

I have worked with Rick on several commercial projects over the last few years as his MEP engineering consultant. We have worked together on neighborhood amenity and community centers, veterinary clinics, and a large kennel facility. He is great to work with, technically very competent, professional in his dealings, and always has a positive attitude. Although I do not have experience working with him on residential designs, I would definitely recommend his architectural services on commercial projects.

I have known and worked with Rick on a variety of projects over the last 40 years. It doesn't seem that long ago, but we first met in the late 1970's, when I was just an itinerant carpenter and remodeler. Remodeling design has always been one of Rick's strengths. We worked together on a number of jobs in West Austin, Tarrytown, and West Lake Hills. We were much younger then, Austin was young too, and just starting to grow like crazy. Rick is and has always been a consummate professional and I have enjoyed the times we have worked together. I look forward to the next time we can work together again.

I have known Rick for many years and have seen several of his award winning parade homes over the years, and although we have been a family that stays where they are for 25 years, we did use Rick and his team for an extensive updating remodel. The whole process in working with Rick and the ideas he brings to the table, really got the whole remodel experience on the right track to where it was as enjoyable as possible when you have to exist in the construction zone. We are so glad we pulled the trigger on that about 5 years ago, and have thoroughly enjoyed the renovation. We would not have changed a thing, and still enjoy showing off the changes to friends and people when they visit our home. Rick designed an Arts & Crafts contemporary for a rundown duplex! The goals was to create a single-home look from an apartment looking building. He used the existing structure and added bump outs, window awnings, a new porch and an upstairs deck to create this effect. He also successfully and beautifully designed a garage from a carport. The curb appeal is outstanding and completely changed the look. We also had a great builder who implemented the design!

Our house is on acreage and the exterior is galvanized metal with metal roof, for energy savings and low maintenance. Rick was able to design the project so it did not look like a big barn.
