His personal involvement, artist style, and dedication to excellence have earned him prestigious awards both locally and nationally. The firms that bear his name provide both architectural and construction services for clients in order to translate his artistic vision into the reality of a beautiful home. Jack Smuckler believes that serving as both architect and builder eliminates the possibility of flawed interpretation and results in greater clarity with regard to his design details and client needs and budget. Smuckler’s high level of experience, creativity, insight, and quality of workmanship have resulted in the creation of over 300 custom homes diverse in style from contemporary to traditional, yet the quality of superior design and quality of construction are a common result in space that are extremely functional to meet his clients unique personal needs. My husband and I followed and admired Jack Smuckler's architecture for 20 years! We always loved Jack's imaginary designs and quality workmanship. He did not disappoint us when we were fortunate to have him design and build a home for us! The design process was flawless. Jack guided us as we planned the home of our dreams. He is an amazing and talented architect; always giving us creative suggestions. We also hired Jack to build our home. As the builder, he treated the project as if it was his own home, was on site often and was a tireless advocate for us. I have worked with Jack for nearly 30 years on multiple projects. He has such an attention to architectural detail in whatever genre he is working. His homes are always sited to maximize the use of the property and the view angles. And the exterior elevations are always elegant. But it is his treatment of the interior spaces that makes his work truly shine. There is always a rhythm to the spaces and there is a serenity about them. Even in expansive homes with large spaces, the rooms always seem accessible and never overwhelming. Jack's blueprints present real challenges for the trades people. To compress his complex three dimensional visions into two dimensional prints make his plans dense and full of information. He, therefore, only works with very skilled trades people. His completed projects remind me of that duck floating languidly on a pond, but is furiously paddling underneath. The homes are always warm, comfortable, elegant, and not fussy. But the complex thought and difficult details that went into making such an inviting home are not noticed.

In the spring of 2014, I had the opportunity as a professional freelance writer to work with Jack Smuckler and the homeowners of a contemporary custom-built home on Lake Minnetonka. This unique project featured a two-level boat house, high and low topography, an ultra-modern kitchen, barrel vaulted entry, and a floating island with an octagonal etched glass top. Additionally (to the delight of the homeowners), Jack also incorporated an art gallery to showcase the couple's collection of art. All of the details of their home were designed to enjoy expansive lake views both outside and inside. Jack's expertise and knowledge of architectural features and contemporary design is absolutely extraordinary. It was my pleasure to work with him on this project which was featured in Inspired Home magazine.

I represented a lender for one of Jack's client's beautiful single family homes. My role was to observe the construction progress and review payment applications during the construction phase of the project. I was impressed with the attention to detail and high level of quality of the finished residential home. Jack took a personal interest in the project, was very focused on meeting the client's expectation and was a true professional throughout the process.

Jack Smuckler designed and built our house 20 plus years ago...His designs are timeless and absolutely insure future real estate values plus positively give the owner a design that they can be proud of....If we built again today there is no question who would design and build it! His construction of our present home is superb with virtually no issues ever. He is an outstanding talented architect and a great construction firm. Our home is a soft contemporary which is what we like and Jack delivered more than we ever expected both in design and a trouble free home that truly is timeless!
