About Us

studio01 architects is an intentionally small, design-based practice that specializes in modern, sustainable architecture. For us it’s really about choosing the client not the project type. How do you live in your place? What is your occupation? How many children if any? We want to know about you; that informs us to make appropriate suggestions. The two most important aspects of our practice is a Collaborative design process and being good listeners. We feel strongly we are together in this process and not just a sounding board.

We had a great experience with Dee and studio01. Dee helped us with two different renovations on our house, both of which were challenging beyond what we could see from the outset. In retrospect, had we not used Dee, we would've screwed up many tricky aspects...even with a quality contractor...Dee has a thorough understanding of issues and the vision to work through them in a way only an experienced architect can. And she was an absolute pleasure to work with...my wife and I both are in service industries, and Dee treated us the way we strive to treat our clients.

Studio01 was great to work with. They designed a custom house for us. Dee, the principal architect, brought our vision/design ethos to life. She did a great job of balancing her ideas and our ideas to produce one of the more unique homes in charlotte.

Studio 01 designed the plan for the remodel of my 1940's bungalow style home in Plaza Midwood in Charlotte, NC, which included a completely reconfigured kitchen, den, master bath and upstairs. Ms. Blackburn was able to utilize every inch of the existing footprint and provide the perfect open and light-filled addition while maintaining my home's original character. I appreciated greatly her professional ability to interpret my needs and style preferences.
