My wife and I brought on Allyson as our architect for a major renovation and addition to our forever home. I can't say enough about how pleased we were with the overall process and the final product we received. She met with us multiple times at our home, listened to our vision(s), and drew up multiple options until we landed on a final construction design. There was quite a bit of work involved with our project, and each step of the way, Allyson drew our concepts out so that we could get to the end goal. I've had numerous people ask how I liked working with my architect and my response is always the same. I absolutely feel that I got a great value with her and that it was money well spent.

I hired Turco McCarthy Architecture & Design to create the architectural plans for a large renovation project of a 100+ year old home. Allyson was extremely knowledgeable about historic design and preservation, and was an invaluable resource in navigating the city’s rigorous plan review and approval process for historic structures. She actively listened to my thoughts and ideas about what I was looking to accomplish with the final design and offered up multiple options that did a fantastic job of merging the traditional character of an older home with the contemporary needs of today’s homeowner. In addition to her knowledge of architecture and design, Allyson is an adept project manager who focuses on keeping the project on schedule and thoroughly communicates status and next steps. I have truly enjoyed working with her and will definitely engage Turco McCarthy for future projects.

Allyson created a floor plan and front side exterior design for my 1950s ranch style home renovation. The major part of my renovation included the design of a kitchen in a small and ackwardly shaped space. She was incredibly professional to work with, and created a kitchen that we can’t wait to utilize. I had to fire my previous contractor after facing many issues with him. Allyson helped my family get our renovation back on track, and we will finally complete Our major overhaul within the next 3 months. I won’t hesitate to use her again in the future.

Allyson at Turco McCarthy was exactly the type of architect I needed for my renovating an investment property in Grant Park. She was involved prior to my purchase of the property to give advice on how the renovation would be done and add value to the property. Her local knowledge and experience were very well relevant in progressing the project through permitting. We had to work through several design options to meet the City's requirements for renovating a 1927 home. Allyson was professional, flexible and responsive in all our interactions, which made her a pleasure to work with.

Allyson drew the architectural plans for our basement remodel. She was always prompt and was terrific about keeping us updated on progress. We had some very specific, but sometimes conflicting, ideas about what we wanted in the basement; we also had a lot of ideas. Somehow, Allyson managed to follow our stream-of-consciousness ideas and seamlessly incorporated them into the final design. Her plan was thorough, she had great ideas to overcome the architectural challenges presented by our 1930s basement and she completed the plan quickly.

We had a disappointing experience with another architect and a friend recommended Allyson to us. She was very responsive and helpful and had our plans completed and ready to submit to the city in record time. I enjoyed getting to know her and would work with her again.

My experience could not have been better with Turco McCarthy. A+ all the way around. I worked with Allyson, and she is a total pro. She absolutely knows her craft, she is incredibly responsive, and was always willing to help me at all phases of the project. The scope of my project: expanding a room, adding a pantry, adding a screened-in porch, adding an outdoor kitchen area, and exploring a master site plan for a potential garage addition for Phase II. Allyson put together plans for a porch and two bathrooms. This actually spanned multiple years --- she had done some prior work sketching porch design concepts, which we used to decide on our final porch design. For this project, she put together a full permit set. She met with us multiple times to clarify our needs and wants, she provided options and opinions when requested, and she executed the permit set flawlessly. She also worked with the contractor as needed to provide any minor additions that the permit expediters or the city wanted/needed. She was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. She informed us of any time she might be out of town in case we needed to reach her, and she was sensitive to our desired timeline to complete the permit set. We were almost completely on budget, with only a slight addition because we expanded the scope of work to have her also include the second bathroom in her permit drawings, which had not been initially included. Great to work with, we would use her again.
