As a result my four rental apartments always get rented within a week. They look like condo finishes but did not cost nearly as much as how expensive they look. In addition I ran into some structural and equipment problems. He helped streamline the repairs and helped me feel confident that I was making the right choices for my building. Agreeing to prioritize light, space, and storage space, with a modern design and staying within budget, Esther brought creative and smart ideas and design schemes to every phase of our 3 bdrm 2bath home combination and renovation. VIsitors to our home always comment on the seamless layout, abundant closets and clean, unique lines. Esther put her special touches on our kitchen, finding Italian lacquered cabinets; on our built in living room media wall and built in AC/heater cabinets; and on solid wood closet doors with a double line piping, consistent throughout our home. Esther ably managed the contractor and his team as well, checking in regularly and amazingly enough, keeping them on schedule and budget too. While much of the home buying/renovating process can be stressful, Esther was a constant beacon of calm. “This past year, I hired Jonathan Wolfe to design a partial kitchen renovation in my 1929 Westchester County, NY home. About 19 years ago, I completely gutted and renovated the kitchen using high-end custom cabinets, keeping the existing footprint. At that time, I did not have the foresight (or budget) to expand the kitchen. Almost 20 years later, with both children in college, I wanted to finally create that open feel that I had been wanting; creating a more inviting place to eat, cook and entertain. The one caveat for this project, however, was that my husband really wanted to keep the custom light maple cabinets, even though I was worried that they reflected a dated 1990’s look. What Jonathan did was he designed a way to connect the old with the new, creating a stunning new open kitchen and dining room. He designed the new archway that opened from kitchen to dining room to mirror the archways throughout the house. Then he designed a peninsula that connected the two rooms, keeping the traditional 1929 feel of the house, but making it more clean-line and open. While this was considered a “smallish” project, it was not an easy one – working on an almost 100 year home and making everything seemed as it all worked together was Jonathan’s absolute special magic. After we changed all the hardware (from brass to polished chrome), put in new lighting, added some new appliances, changed fixtures, etc, the new space and the cabinets work beautifully. We would definitely hire Jonathan Wolfe again for our next project, he is a real pro.”
