David and his team were excellent in our Tahoe remodel project. Even through the pandemic, which added another unwanted layer of complexity. We looked for a team that could bring a modern vision to our traditional Tahoe house. David and this team listened to our requirements, offered their vision, and delivered what we wanted in a few iterations. They worked within the constraints of what was possible in Tahoe and were available to guide our contractors and us during the process. They were always available for questions and ready to accommodate whatever challenges the remodel project brought. We are in the process of a new project, and we have already contacted David and his team for support.

We just completed a whole house remodel. Every room was reconfigured, and the whole house reimagined. Every wall, floor, ceiling, as well as the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems were redone. Working with WA designs and David Wilson was a great choice. David and his team listened to what we hoped and dreamed we might be able to create, and then they created a design that was flexible enough to accommodate several rounds of refinement until we ended up with every thing we envisioned. And working with the team at WA was a pleasure. From design to build, WA assisted us in every phase of our project, from the initial design, to helping us select a contractor, to obtaining the necessary permits, and working with us through the complete process of building, including selecting materials and the finishes. We would unreservedly recommend WA for any design/build project anyone might have.

We are so impressed w/his ability to create an elegant kitchen compatible w/historic architectural décor while integrating modern functionality. We have a completely up-to-date kitchen, w/artist flare David is well known for while the architectural details mirror those of the original house.

I don't mean to overstate it, but I believe David Wilson is some kind of creative genius. I started my project with another architect and then a designer, but David took everything in a new direction and really opened my eyes as to what was possible. I'm still finding wonderful surprises in the details, right down to textures and colors, as well as the juxtaposition of shapes and continuity of visual themes in David's plans. We broke ground about a month ago, and I'm breathing a sigh of thankful relief that I first let David sketch out his idea last year.

David Wilson can "see" the potential of a space in ways that others simply can't. Something about his imagination, his training, his skill, and experience allow him to picture a space in ways that no one else can. He designed our home ten years ago, but my husband continues to regularly rely on his consultation for various projects. In each instance, a space is transformed: lot to magnificent home; old building to modern; dark, cramped space to light and airy. The spaces he creates are not only aesthetically pleasing, they make my whole disposition content because he's considered how the built environment will affect my spirit. Truly remarkable.

I am writing in praise of our architect David Wilson and his company WA Design in Berkeley. My husband and I are cautious and suspicious people by nature. After talking to half a dozen architects and design/build firms, we chose David. David was responsive and easy to talk to from the first phone call I made. There is probably no way to eliminate all the anxiety inherent in a large and multifaceted overhaul of the house you live in (ours involved a kitchen, laundry, pantry, back entry-way, bedroom and bathroom, all with removing weight-bearing walls and structural rearrangements), but it sure helps to employ someone whose confident vision and keen eye for design braces you along the way. Still, the most important part of our experience is our daily happiness living with the result!

My experience with WA Design Architects has been nothing short of great. Their understanding of our vision and ability to maneuver the project through the myriad of challenges it encountered, has turned a daunting task into an exciting and rewarding experience. David is the BEST! David recently helped us create an interior design concept for a new location we purchased in Atascadero Ca. What used to be an older library was transformed into a work of ART! David has great design concepts and has helped us on other projects in the past, he is our go to Architect when we want to create a space that makes you go "Wow" :) David is very easy to work with, listens to what we need and comes up with a design that works!

Andy and the team at WA Design designed a great place for us in Woodside. We wanted a Tudor style home -- ok not really, we wanted a modern home that would look great in the woods and that is what we got. Place looks great. Excellent attention to detail.

David Wilson recently completed a conceptual design for a custom home I hope to start later this year in the Oakland hills. This is the second time I have worked with him. WA Design designed a complete remodel of our San Francisco coop apartment. We knew we wanted to move our kitchen and dining/family room to our upper floor, but they also helped us reconfigure our downstairs space to greatly improve its functionality (as well as looks). We thought we would be able to add an office, but they showed us how we could also have a vastly improved master suite (with a great closet, exercise area, and workspace) and a fabulous new guest bedroom with great views. David and Chris were incredibly inventive. I also was impressed with the degree to which they worked closely with us and considered our desires and tastes. When the project was just beginning, I sent David a collection of photos of interiors that we liked, and he and Chris quickly came up with a design that was somewhat similar in color and feel, but that incorporated a much richer mixture of materials and textures and interesting features. Wow! They also were great at providing us with numerous design and materials options throughout the project. As our building was very old (1920s), there also were a number of unexpected problems that arose. They worked well with the builder to work out solutions to those problems. I know the foreman on our project greatly appreciated all of Chris's assistance and detailed drawings. We couldn't be happier with the way our project turned out. We absolutely love the home that David and Chris designed for us.

We had a complete remodel done on our home that had specific requirements: contemporary and eco friendly/Green. WA Design gave us an amazing architectural plans and design concept that we adopted full heartily. Our architect was smart, creative, and knowledgeable about structural needs and always had the answers to many questions from me and the contractors.

David Wilson is one of those creative architects I know. I've been consulting in the construction industry for over 30 years. I have rarely met anyone with his creativity. He definitely thinks outside the box. His does designs are innovative and affordable. I highly recommend David to anyone who wants a unique architecturally significant project that is going to come in within budget.

When we bought our home, it had been through successive remodels. Yet, it remained a series of discontinuous and cut-up spaces. The kitchen was undersized and dark, and it entirely failed to address the best views. After interviewing many architects we hired David because we felt he had the vision to finally pull the floor plan together while working and retaining existing strong points of the home. It wasn't an easy task. David is very skilled at understanding spaces and how to make strong connections to the outdoors, landscape and views. The plan he proposed for our new kitchen and family area would have views to the bay on one side and doors out to a yard area on the other. During the remodel we were still on the East Coast and had a daily correspondence of emails, texts, and phone calls, to sort out the myriad of details that go into a large remodel. Most design ideas that were sent to us were in the form of 3D renderings, so we knew exactly what to expect as we made our decisions and choices. David and WA design were excellent at coming up with design solutions that fit our budget requirements. I strongly recommend this firm - you won't be disappointed !

We originally hired David Wilson at WA design to design a new house for us on a large lot which contained a small tear down structure which had been vacant for over 20 years. When it became clear that the zoning approval process for a new home would take far longer than we wanted to spend in limbo, David suggested that we shift focus and redesign and expand the existing structure. This was quite a challenge as the existing structure was sited to take advantage of the view but not the property, and the layout was awkward. David created a wonderful new design which optimized two important views – one of the Bay and another of a large Oak tree in the backyard. He also maximized the utility of the remaining existing structure and blended the design of the old and new homes into a harmonious and exciting contemporary design. David has been very easy to work with, he was careful to solicit our needs and ideas, and he offered us several design solutions for our review prior to finalizing the project.

Very pleasant to work with, good listeners and gave us fabulous design ideas while keeping an eye on the budget. Most importantly, renderings of ideas were presented quickly so that project direction could be clearly established . Fees exactly what were estimated.

We cannot recommend David Wilson of W/A Design highly enough. (We also really love Chris Parlette.) Our project doubled the square footage of our little Berkeley bungalow--David's design successfully integrated old and new, funky and fresh. David took our ideas and priorities and made them real. David and Chris are responsible and responsive, easy to communicate with, with strong artistic visions as well as flexibility, realism, senses of humor. We would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Wilson Design created an outstanding design for my remodel. They turned my 80-year-old mediterranean home into a sparkling, warm, and light-filled beauty. I am absolutely thrilled with the results. We hired Chris Parlette and W/A Deisgn for our kitchen and dining room remodel/small addition after seeing Chris' work on a house he had completely remodeled. We immediately knew that Chris' sensibilities would mesh well with ours. He was able to come up with a great design for us that integrated seamlessly with the existing house, and at the same time offered suggestions for incorporating new materials and finishes to give our house the update it desperately needed. It was obvious to us that our project really mattered to Chris and his regular email notes on meetings at the house were greatly appreciated. The project is near completion and we look forward to enjoying our new ilving spaces.

David and Chris at WA Design planned our kitchen and bath remodel. It was a small project with almost no exterior changes, but the result exceeded all our expectations. Our kitchen ended up being published in Better Homes & Garden magazine. It was their vision that brought us the concept and all of us worked together to bring that concept to reality. We've built two homes with David Wilson. The first was in the Berkeley Hills in 1989 and the second in Portland, Oregon in 2000. For both projects, we were in good hands with David and Chris Parlette at WA Design. Even with an out of state project, they were able to provide the coordination, detail, and responsiveness to run a smooth project with our local contractor. The design and construction (including landscaping) process were amazing experiences for our entire family, all of which was due to the wonderful collaboration and creativity this firm engenders. After spending many weeks interviewing seven (7) Architects, my wife & I choose Chris Parlette and WA Design to collaborate on our vision of creating a dream, “very green” retirement home in The Sea Ranch area of Sonoma County. While the design process had enormous hurdles associated with a design review committee which autocratically controls all development, Chris was able to effectively and patiently navigate the many design challenges we encountered especially surrounding the numerous sustainable elements that were seamlessly interwoven into the overall house design. Additionally, this firm brings unique expertise in color and texture which has been very important to our project. David Wilson and WA Design have been the architects on two homes for our family, one in the Oakland Hills and one in Napa, California, on a rock-filled challenging site. They have been wonderful and responsive to work with, embracing our ideas in the spirit of collaboration.
