For over 30 years this female-run company has been exploring and redefining what it means to feel a connection to natural environments. Their goal is to design horticultural areas that allow you to experience nature in a new way. They want you to feel an attachment to your outdoor spaces, and to have a spot to unwind and recharge. Creativity. The possibilities for landscape design are immeasurable. GBD knows this. At the core of their design initiative, is to create spaces using a fresh and innovative approach. They value infusing areas with a new energy while also being environmentally conscious—striving to make areas look as though they’ve been there forever. Collaboration. GBD takes a collaborative and open approach to all projects—aligning with their studio vibe. They believe this is key to guaranteeing the most satisfying results. It ensures that all details are thought through from the beginning and that no questions go unanswered. They believe in endorsing a work environment that is honest, humble, and professional.
As the owner and operator of van Buuren Landscaping, I take great pride in all of the gardens I have had the pleasure of working in over the years. I launched my business in 1994 after more than a decade at retail outlets such as Peter Knippel Nursery and Plant World Ltd. (Toronto). This practical experience, along with a diploma in Landscape Technology from Humber College, paved the way to my current success. Over the years, I have continued to learn about all aspects of the business: from new plant materials and techniques, to partnering with specialty firms to meet the needs of my clients. I believe that every project is unique. Good design must consider not only soil type and exposure, but also the client's personality and lifestyle. I provide a full range of services: from simple clean-ups and design assistance to complete renovation projects. Gardening is a passion of mine that I love to share. Thank you for visiting my website. I hope to hear from you soon.

*Authorized Techo-Bloc Dealer* Since 1955, this family owned company has been at the cutting edge of landscape design and construction, transforming thousands of Ottawa area yards into breath taking works of art. In 1963 we started our own growing nursery to supply our landscape operations. Due to a growing curiosity of local visitors, we felt compelled to open our nursery to the public. Company founders Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Schmitz and 4 children presided over the company from 1955 until its 50th anniversary in 2005. Since then Eva Schmitz (president) and Eckhart Schmitz (C.E.O.) have assumed leadership of the company. Also crucial to our organization is our general Manager Mossy (Mostafa Fallah). We gratefully acknowledge our dedicated staff for their enduring excellent service over many years. Several have been with us for over 25 years. Our purpose is to educate home gardeners to produce long lasting beautiful gardens for their pleasure and enjoyment, whether the space is large or small. This process incorporates functional and creative elements such as walks, patios, pools, ponds ect. As in the past, we hope to continue in the educational process, which will provide you with new and stunning possibilities.
