It is now a pleasure for our family and friends to spend time together in our gorgeous new kitchen. “We worked with Charlotte from concept to finished plans. She made this process enjoyable and solved for problems we could not imagine. She effectively acted as our liaison with the building inspectors to get approvals on new and innovative heating and air conditioning systems for a small build. She also secured comparisons for beams, all the while keeping in mind my requirements for the cleanest building materials possible. Her understanding of the building codes and language made us feel comfortable with our final decisions. She walked the property and made suggestions we will certainly implement, like burying the power line for a beautiful final finish. She has certainly gone above and beyond what was required professionally. We love this house, and it's not even built yet, thanks to Charlotte. We strongly recommend Charlotte.”

“We have built 3 houses in the past 15 years. We have develped plans with several dsigners and architechs over that time. Mr. Collinson was uniquely able to produce a design which met our needs and desires. He asked important questions. These included; the ages of our children and what activities they do. He effectively, incorporated this information into the design. Mr. Collison had a strong knowledge of the local building bylaws and there variation throughout Halifax. We are very happy with the haouse now that it is built. We would recommend Mr. Collinson. We would use his services if we were to build another house. Jock Murray”

“We asked Abbott Brown to do a full renovation of our summer house in the Annapolis Valley, and we are completely thrilled with the result. The house had a number of issues which we weren't sure how to solve, but Jane and Alec saw all kinds of potential in the site which we never imagined, and gave us a new addition which, together with some wonderful opening up and re-planning of the old building, transformed the whole feel. Everyone who steps inside falls in love with the house, and we remain so happy to be in such a bright, easy place. They were great to deal with; they listen and you really feel like they are working to give you the best possible project. I'd recommend Jane and Alec whole-heartedly.”

“I found the web site for Vincent den Hartog on line, and liked the photos he had posted. I had purchased land on the Bay of Fundy shore and needed to start over with a new build, after a demolition. It was a request to design a Cape Cod style house (3 bedrooms) with shingles to look old., and make the most of the water views. Vincent found a reputable builder to interpret my wishes. I am very pleased with the results.”

“I have worked with Passive Design Solutions in two separate instances and I have nothing but great things to say about their service! Natalie provided us with a site evaluation of the proposed building lot. Her evaluation was both thorough and insightful and provided us with the knowledge needed to make a decision to purchase the land. She was very accommodating of my schedule and provided phone support to review the detailed report. Working directly with Natalie was a pleasure! She is professional, knowledgeable and a real expert in her field! Passive design solutions also provided us with the design service for our new home. I was provided a detailed contract upfront spelling out milestones and project cost. I worked directly with designer Mike Anderson to create a one of a kind home with all the energy efficient features that are typical of Passive Houses. Mike's background in physics and architecture and his extensive knowledge of Passive House Design naturally complement one another! Remote consulting worked out great! Face-to-face skype meetings were particularly useful and provided us with one-on-one discussion time to review the progress and the plans in detail. The final plans were amazing and contained all the construction details necessary to implement Passive House levels of insulation and air tightness. The house has exceeded my expectations in both aspects of form and function! Passive Design Solutions gets a thumbs up, a grade A+, and a kudos for a job well done!”
