I love what I do and hope that you enjoy looking through my work. I create sculpture for the home, garden, commercial and public spaces. Working mainly in slate and glass I produce my works by shaping and stacking many layers to achieve the desired result. Probably best known for my spheres, eggs and apples - I also work on commissions, often working closely with my clients, their architects and garden designers/ landscape architects to bring their ideas to fruition.

I have worked as a professional artist for the past 30 years in Scotland UK where I now work in Glasgow from a WASPS (Workshop & Studio Provision Scotland), studio in the Briggait, a converted and renovated Victorian Fish market.. I was born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England and in 1982 completed my BA(Hons) in Fine Art at Reading University where I embraced expressionist colourfield painting with confidence and passion. I continue to develop this dramatic and emotive painting style, making these works from a specific aesthetic point that personally expresses sublime elements of human experiences. Over many years I have refined and developed my technique, a process that continues to challenge and intrigue. I also work figuratively and sculpturally, and have produced a body of works that pursue the concept of the sublime using flight as my subject. These works are contemporary examples of the 18th century idea of the sublime, portraying drama, terror, excitement and danger:. They use Flight as an explicit metaphor for the sublime, as an example of the sublime transcending the limits of the human condition.

Shindigg was formed in October of 2011 by Glasgow based designer Michelle Crews, with her background in Interior Design she always had a passion for unique and quirky homewares. Michelle's husband Derrick formed his own business Twa Dugs Design previously and purchased a laser cutter to aid in their creations. With Michelle's knowledge of the laser cutting process, she decided to create a range of 2D and 3D laser cut artwork; including our best sellers, the 'Stag's Heid', the 'Flutterby' and the 'Big Love'. Shindigg more recently have been working on the 'new arrivals' range; unique gift ideas for new born babies nurseries and toddlers bedrooms. Each piece can be personalised with name, weight, date and time and are lovingly hand arranged like all of our laser cut artwork. Each piece is made to order, allowing you to pick and choose your own colours to match in with any interiors scheme and can be personalised to make the perfect gift for any special occasion. We hope you like our products, Derrick and Michelle Crews.
