I have been crafting original lighting since making a first lamp of "found parts" in 1994..... back when the flea market pickins' were good and cheap. I have also restored and revived many a treasured lamp, chandelier or sconce as well for my clients and customers. In my style, I hope you will notice attention to detail, some whimsy, and an appreciation for vintage lighting, art & artifacts, and industrial design. Specializes in one of a kind custom fixtures. I build and often design these projects in collaboration with a creative group of Bay Area professionals specializing in interior design, architecture, glass & metal fabrication, and finishing, Many of the designs are "one-off" commissions that were constructed around a unique found part or object or inspired by a photograph. (Because I get a substantial number of requests, I should clarify that, at this time, I do not specialize in recessed lighting or lighting systems.)

ABOUT THE ARTIST I am a self-taught artist born and raised in Denver, Colorado. I discovered painting in my twenties as a means to calm my “unquiet mind” and to bring myself joy and inner peace. Today, painting is an essential part of my life and who I am as an individual. ARTIST STATEMENT: My Inspiration comes from life and all that it brings emotionally, spiritually and physically. My Series have been inspired through personal inner struggles and successes as well as my journey in this lifetime. I would say my work comes from a place of intuition and emotion. There are times I will be reading or reflecting, and a brief vision of a painting will come to me. At that point it’s my inner emotion that brings the art to life on the canvas. Once I start a painting the music that I listen too amplifies that emotion which works its way onto the canvas. With each painting I listen to a particular song over and over as I paint and name the piece after that song title. I have had many individuals who have purchased my paintings ask for the name and musical artist who I painted the piece to. I have been told from several collectors that this has created a deeper emotional connection to the painting. My artistic style consists primarily of Mixed Media and Abstract mediums. I love to experiment with various mediums, texture and paint. I use acrylic, fabric, tissue paper, mesh, spray paint, ink, oil pastel, chalk and other mediums.

“My husband and I are pleased to review and highly recommend our artist, Tom from Wow Effects. He is the most professional home interior decorator that we have ever met for painting. His attention to detail is incredible, we have no qualms recommending him to any employer for any artistic paint job. He had a vision for what we had described that was actually more accurate than we could have come up with on our own. He offers inspired suggestions. He did an artistic faux finish with an antique, old-world but spa-like feel in our master bedroom and bath. He did a faux finish, gold dining room for us and he did a collegiate, nostalgic mural thru-out our home gym. Now the whole house gets us rave reviews and gives us so much pleasure. He is a perfectionist and immaculate. He is trustworty and hard-working. You will not regret his help with any artistic painting project you desire for your home.”

“MS Colours created a glace hand painted kitchen ceiling finish, using a custom color from Fine Paints of Europe. The finished product is unlike anything we have ever seen in any home, or design magazine. His team also painted our living room, and used an artistic flair to hand paint faux marble and granite finishes between our mantel, and our granite counter tops to blend the stone finishes seamlessly against the painted wall surfaces. He can create any look or finish that a client might consider. His is also a perfectionist, so we turned the projects over to him and enjoyed the entire process from start to finish.”

“I own an architectural lighting company. We have a few mutual clients with Nicole and have seen a number of her projects over the past 6 years. We've been given the task of lighting some of Nicole's work (murals & walls or woodwork with unique finishes). In each case, I have been very impressed with the quality and originality of the work. In my line of work, I have the opportunity of seeing some of the highest quality trade & artisan installations. Nicole's work has always met or surpassed that bar. Where we have had to follow up on one of her projects (light her work) - the project has always been done in the time frame estimated. Specifically - I've seen simple woodwork in a kitchen made to match (and actually look better than) marble counters. On one project, saw a creation & collaboration with a wall paper hanger to create a ceiling finish unlike any I've seen. Another project - a hideous steel utility door turned into a middle ages wooden door. Also some fun - mural projects in children's rooms and wine cellars. The murals I saw were unique to the setting and clients. I've also noticed the care Nicole takes in connecting with her clients to achieve a product based on their input combined with her design capabilities. Bob Milford - President Calcon Lighting Co.”
