It’s a love affair that began in his grandfather’s workshop. When Adam Colangelo first experimented with scraps of copper during his formative years, he had no way of knowing that the medium would deeply impact his life. In the years since, Colangelo has found promise in this extremely versatile medium. Colangelo’s large-scale compositions speak to his understanding of copper and his interests in challenging the way we view and interpret two-dimensional art. His process is methodical, laborious, and time consuming. By employing diverse techniques, Colangelo presents an array of patinas and finishes so rich in detail, each small segment of his compositions offers its own earthy abstraction. Colangelo’s signature design elements present a fusion between the geometric and organic. His living, breathing landscapes simultaneously include visual references to the world, while being rooted in grid-like abstraction. The dynamic quality of his work is a nod to an existentialist belief that, like Colangelo’s self-discovered style, we are free to determine our own relationship to the external world. Colangelo has exhibited works in Toronto, New York, Chicago, Palm Beach, and Tokyo. His work has been purchased for private and corporate collections in the United States and Canada. We met him at the art show
We had quite recently acquired what we call a "Copper sculpture" from Adam Colangelo at the Metro Art Show. We had come to view his work almost at the end of the day and were pleasantly attracted for being a very unique piece of art. We even more appreciated meeting this congenial young man who was extremely friendly and helpful in every way. He brought the art work to our house and helped us to hang it in our upper level of the house. The art piece is a 36" x 48" board artistically mounted with rows of 2"x2" copper squares that have been prepared with chemical agents for color and beauty. A photo of this work in its present setting in our house can be viewed in his website and he calls it "unconditional". Now we are proud owners of a very special art piece. Ursula and Raj Sekharan
I purchased an art piece July 2014.
I would not hesitate to commission a work by Adam Colangelo. I recently purchased an art piece created by him. Not only is the work visually beautiful and exciting but also the support of the work is very well constructed. He sent me a certificate of authenticity which revealed to me his dedication and professionalism.
I purchased a piece of Adam Colangelo's art work
I recently purchased one of Adam Colangelo's artistic creations at Toronto's annual City Hall Art Show. Seeing Adam's work was like love at first sight. I was immediately taken by the shear beauty of his art. His artistic style is exceptionally creative and unique, with much attention to detail. The quality of his work was superb. It was hard to decide on which piece to purchase ... they were all so beautiful. I am most happy to be able to add a piece of Adam's work to my home's growing art collection. Perhaps the greatest compliment that I can give to an artist is the desire to have a piece of their work proudly displayed as an integral part of my home living environment.
I met Adam at the One of a Kind show and fell in love with his work. We commissioned him to make a piece for our home. Amazingly we were able to set up an appointment in a timely fashion. Adam came to our house and was open to hearing about what we wanted his art piece to look like and provided us with insight on shape, colors, placement etc. He set a deadline of 8 weeks and he met it, even e-mailing us along the way with an update on the project. He came back to the house once more and put the pieces up for us. They are beautiful!
Adam is a wonderful, professional, exciting artist! He is passionate about his work as well as pleasing his customers. He is equally concerned with piece design as he is with piece placement, lighting and esthetics. He works wonderfully in collaborating with his clients and ensuring everyone is pleased with the final product. A delight to work with! I am sure we will be commissioning more pieces from Adam in the future. We are happy with both pieces and they make stunning additions to our home.
I have had the pleasure of working with Adam on a commissioned piece after seeing his incredible pieces of art. I hired Adam for a commissioned piece of his incredible copper art. Adam was professional, endearing, soulful and accommodating. He made the process a mutually creative one, and was open to what I wanted and gave excellent advise regarding the space and ideal colours etc. After the project/commissioned piece was up (which Adam put up himself......a very unusual but much appreciated perk) when I called Adam back for "more" of his work, he offered up various combinations to compliment the current work....as all I knew, was that I wanted "more"! I have had so many compliments on my "Adam Colangelo" piece. When looking at it, you feel connected to our planet earth. The copper looks like semi - precious stones, and the whole piece looks like an artists rendering of a components of jewellery...for your wall!!! The colours, textures and patterns that Adam creates also remind me of looking at the earth from space. The mountains, bodies of water and land masses all come into play. What a joy to be able to walk by daily and multiple times each day and to even still stop and admire this incredible pieces of art.......an homage to Adam, his Grandfather and to the love and talent passed on .
Adam created a one of a kind rendition of the sun setting on ocean waves for a fireplace feature wall, measuring 6 ft. wide by 8 ft. high. Using copper sheets oxidized by a variety of techniques, he replicated the suns reflections on the water, ocean spray, the beach and the gradual transition of colour between the horizon and the sky. Adams work is nothing short of stunning, both in scale and detail, and his workmanship is a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of metal workers everywhere. He completed the work on time and within budget and personally installed the piece. Adam is a pleasure to work with and a consummate professional who loves his work and appreciates his clients. We have received many compliments from family and visitors on the fireplace feature wall and we look forward to working with Adam in the future.
I have a number of pieces from AC Industrial Art ranging in sizes that are displayed in my home as well as my office. His work guarantees intrigue from my guests and clients who always ask the story behind the work. My guest, like myself, are charmed by Adam's ability to manipulate a rigid and cold canvas like copper into a mosaic of geometric excellence. There is meaning and thought behind his work but most importantly, it's always pleasing to look at when I come home. Adam's warm demeanor makes his a pleasure to work with. He's thoughtful, attentive and very professional.
We met Adam at the 2012 Summer Toronto Outdoor Art Show. We were struck by his work, and came back to his display a number of times. We ended up commissioning him to create an original piece for our home. Adam came to view our space for an initial consultation, and helped us refine the dimensions of the piece and the colour palette. He delivered a beautiful finished piece on time and on budget, and installed it himself. We love it, and we have had very favourable comments on it from people visiting our home. If we had more room, we would commission another piece from Adam. Recommended wholeheartedly.

We ordered a custom piece of art from Adam Colangelo after seeing his work at an art exhibition. Working with Adam was a pleasure! He responded promptly to e-mails, met with us at our convenience, priced his work reasonably, and completed the piece on time. Best of all, his work is extraordinary. I've never seen an artist combine copper and resin in such a way. It is warm, intriguing, and has a dynamic nature - changing as the light in the room changes. We were extremely satisfied with his work and have recommended him to our friends.
