Whether it's an inspirational thought, an entirely abstract vision or personal or cultural experiences, my expansive canvases embody and depict a heightened expression of my thoughts. I haven't set out to produce art about one subject or another. My paintings evolve from the environment I find myself in. When I paint, I feel compelled to create images that transcend simple objective representations. I try to identify, assemble, reconstruct and amplify the core essence of each particular scene thus enabling mental imagery. My style is largely assisted with the use of painting knives, my fingers, sponges and other objects. I build and mold my images to recreate my vision on canvas. This provides greater control and freedom and allows for a more profound and intimate visual message. I believe that in realistic art the language is spoken on the painting. In abstract art there is no language - it's what you want to make it to be. The process being the same, the understanding - different. Often I look at my work in progress and I take away whatever experiences I feel at that time. Chances are on return that I would interpret the same work into a different language - more related to my feelings at that exact moment. My hope is that my viewers have a similar dynamic experience as they view my art. Over the years I've taken delight in dabbling in various genres of art. My most recent works are 25 canvases which draw from my physical surroundings which inspired the environmental artist in me. I constantly sense I'm on the verge of my next inspiration.
