As a certified welder and self-taught metal artist, I specialize in creating custom design features in metal, with finishes that are one-of-a-kind works of art. I customize each project from concept, design, fabrication and finishing to installation. I work in steel, aluminum, copper, bronze, nickel, and stainless steel, using traditional and experimental metal finishing techniques; including antique black, brown & rust patinas, colour patinas, dyes, brushed metal, and metallic grinding patterns. Michelle at Gossamer Steel created the exact show-stopping pieces that I had envisioned in my mind while building our new home. Measurements were precise, the one piece fireplace surround fit perfectly when it arrived. Extremely happy with the end product. We recently decided to build a family cottage, A legacy project. And with that in mind, we wanted everything to be just right, just perfect. No compromises whatsoever. When it came to designing our fireplace it was agreed that it would be the centrepiece of our cottage. We had an idea that was bigger than life, but we needed someone that could understand our vision and articulate it on site. It was by coincidence that we met Mishka, probably one of the luckiest situations for us. Mishka simply delivered beyond expectation. She clearly understood what we wanted, because she’s a great listener. And being the artist that she is she was able to articulate that beyond expectations. We now have a fascinating fireplace surround that is really more like a piece of artwork. We are so happy the Mishka worked with us to achieve our objectives. I hired Michelle to fabricate and finish a custom hood fan with a black patina, and I couldn't be happier with the process and the results - Michelle met me at her shop, showed me the different types of metals she could work with, examples of finishes, and the colour variations she could create on each metal. After providing her with a direction, she had me meet her a couple more times in the process to make sure that I was happy with the direction that things were going. At the end of the day, she produced exactly what I wanted and I was thrilled.

Gossamer Steel installed treated metal panels over our fireplace and wine room. We were very impressed with their patience, and desire for perfection. They would not cut corners and were thoughtful throughout the entire process. I would recommend them to anyone considering a similar project!

Gossamer Steel completed this project on time (minor delay for quality control) and on (very reasonable) budget. The installation was undertaken meticulously with great care and respect for our recently completed renovation. My wife and I are delighted with the unique piece of art that Michelle completed and all our friends and workers have been wowed with the stunning fireplace application.

We were looking for a treatment for our apartment's doors. Gossamer Steel was recommended to us by our contractor, and we were amazed by Michelle's samples. They were everything we were looking for and so much more. It was very easy working with Michelle and at every stage of our creative journey she was helpful and very professional, not to mention really innovative and artistic.
