Lisa Houck Art

We worked with Lisa Houck to create a mosaic backsplash behind our cooktop as part of a kitchen remodeling. We wanted to use a nature theme and provided Lisa with some photos we had taken of plants and animals in our yard. She selected several and created sketches for our review. Once we chose the design, Lisa was also able to help us select tiles for the rest of the backsplash that brought the whole kitchen together with a spotlight on the art. The result is a delightful mosaic of birds and trees surrounded by lovely tiles that we appreciate every time we use the cooktop.

A Celestial Celebration Our family room has had a transformation from one single new addition - a hand-made tile fireplace surround by Lisa Houck! I had seen Lisa's work for years: at gallery openings, open studios, and her many successful works of public art. At one open studio, I picked up a single large tile of hers I loved - a wonderful hand carved celestial-designed fired clay tile with the most gorgeous blue glaze. When I approached Lisa about making a full set of tiles for my fireplace (in my antique farmhouse with few straight edges), she rose to the challenge, asking questions about lines and shapes I liked, carefully measuring, and making each tile by hand. The result is wonderful - friends gravitate toward the fireplace, it's the visual center of the room, and it's where we now take family pictures. I recommend Lisa, and her artwork, highly! Project cost includes removal of old tiles and installation of artwork.

Lisa designed tiles to go around our fireplace in a newly added sunroom. It was a delight to work with her. We just love our new room. The tiles just add so much to the room.
