About Us

Organize Create Decorate was established in 2008 by Mint Hill resident Alicia Slayton. After over twenty years of perfecting her furniture painting techniques in her home studio, Alicia decided to open a business of her own. The move allowed her to pursue her own passion for faux painting of cabinetry and furniture, while making her services available to the fast-growing market with an appreciation for beautiful finishes in their homes. In 2013, Alicia branched out to become an expert instructor for a local paint company, The Paint Couture Collection. Today her popular classes are offered in and around the Charlotte region and across the country, as she trains paint distributors and the DIY market in a wide variety of techniques. Because painting is her passion, Alicia continues to add to her extensive and impressive skills, earning the respect and appreciation of her personal clients and trainees.

Alicia is very easy to work with, has a great eye and does fabulous work. I love collectively coming up with colors and styles with her that complement the spaces we work on. She is truly talented and I highly recommend her work.

Alicia transformed our 24 year old white cabinets in our kitchen, sunroom and bathrooms into cabinets that are 100% updated and very expensive looking. She is truly an artist and takes great pride in her work. She was very communicative on timetables and minimally intrusive as she takes the doors to her studio for the bulk of the work. She was a pleasure to work with and the end product greatly exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend her.

Alicia Slayton has created beautiful, re-purposed, refinished furnishings with a unique technique. I had the privilege of working with Alicia as she volunteered and supported The Checkered Ball 2016 ( our major fundraiser for the non-profit, Hinds' Feet Farm). Alicia not only donated several of her creations to our silent auction but volunteered with our set up and displays for the event. She has a wonderful eye for decor, attention to detail and her donated items were well-received.

Alicia has been an instructor in a classes that I have participated in. Not only is she a great instructor, her work is beautiful!! She has a very good "eye" for color and detail! She is also diverse in product use & knowledge!

OCD brought new life to a buffet for me. I gave Alicia a description of my style and what I liked and she gave me the perfect buffet. It's eye catching and it stands out in my dining room. I am super pleased with her customer service and prompt responses. She also repaired paint chips that had happened in transporting the buffet.

It has been my pleasure to have OCD work their magic in my home on two occasions. First, I showed the owner, Alicia, an old dresser and shared my idea for a guest bedroom. Wow! Alicia came up with the perfect plan to refinish, paint, and stencil the dresser, then found me two side tables and finished them as well. The room is beautiful and I have CUSTOM furniture to pass down! More recently, OCD was invited to refinish my peeling kitchen cabinets. After discussion and viewing paint samples, we had a plan. Alicia demonstrated true ARTISTRY, transforming my kitchen from blah white to a soft white with a subtle Tuscan glaze and raised stencil. The cost on both projects was more than REASONABLE. The value of my home just went up! :)

Alicia painted a number of pieces in my home including: a corner cupboard, secretary, two tear table, coffee table, plant stand, dresser, powder table, and several nightstands. She worked diligently to help me determine the colors that best suited my home. The quality of her work is impeccable. I would highly recommend her services.

I've gotten a few pieces from Alicia and they've all been outstanding. My biggest was a beautiful chest of drawers which I absolutely adore! She is very good at what she does, her work is exceptional!!

Alicia took an antique chest of drawers that belonged to my daughter-in-law's grandfather and transformed it into a beautiful piece she would be proud to display in her house, looked up-to-date, but still had the nostalgia that it represented. The transformation was amazing! My DIL would have never wanted it in it's original stain finish, but the "make over" turned it into a piece of art!
