“My wife and I hired Mark Hammer for a major renovation and update to our home. This consisted of a full unfinished basement buildout, a face lift to our guest bathroom and the creation of a master suite from 2 bedrooms and a smaller bathroom on the main level. While we interviewed several contractors Mark was the clear favorite not only for his professionalism and knowledge of the process but also his candor, approachability and genuine kindness. From our first meeting and throughout the build (10 months) everything Mark and his team did was with the highest level of integrity. Even our request to do the project in 2 phases, completing the basement first then moving on to the main floor renovation so we could continue to live in the house during construction was met with an enthusiastic "yeah, we can do that". While this posed additional challenges for Mark and his crew and required my wife and I to navigate living in a "construction zone" for months on end we all managed to make it work. Of course, being this close to the "action" we encountered some communication, timing and scheduling issues but when they were brought to Mark's attention we always felt heard and Mark moved to address the concerns and provide solutions. The craftsmen that Mark brought to the project were also top notch. Pulling together the multiple trades needed to create the finished product is a skill unto itself and Mark expertly does this. Everyone entering our house was friendly, kind and treated our home with respect. Needless to say we are thrilled with the results. Mark and his team absolutely nailed our vision. “A2Z builders did a FANTASTIC job gutting & remodeling our basement! Satchel Sturtz, the project manager from A2Z, was personable, professional & easy to work with from the very beginning of our project until the very end! In our initial planning meeting, my husband & I felt Satchel listened to our wants & needs, then came up with a design that demonstrated his expertise, not only for the remodel of our basement, but also for the removal of our dining room wall on the main floor. He set us up with vendors who provided high quality materials such as tile & fixtures for the bathroom, LVP flooring, alder wood & iron for the railing, lighting, etc. All of the vendors were easy to work with as well. The subcontractors, such as the plumbers, electricians, egress window contractors & construction workers showed up when they were supposed to. Satchel made sure of that! Satchel stopped by often once our project began & if he wasn't able to stop by, he at least checked in via text & phone calls. He was great about answering any questions that arose. A2Z's 2 main construction workers, Al & Maraa, were EXCELLENT! Because they were here working every day, we got to know them quite well. They were meticulous in framing, hanging dry wall, laying tile, etc. I feel Satchel was instrumental in making sure that he assigned people who were compatible with the home owners. “We worked with Tom on a bathroom add, a remodel of another bathroom and the painting of our kitchen cabinets. The new bathroom add was tricky as it is on the second floor and all the mechanicals are in the basement, and I was worried about change orders if they ran into obstacles.
