Rough Linen

Just received the luxurious Orkney linen Summer Cover in the natural color from Rough Linen. It was so convenient to pop straight onto our bed right out of the lovely packaging since it arrived clean and ready to use. We have a Cal-King sized bed, and the king cover fits beautifully. We love it! At just a little heavier than a top sheet, we will use it under our duvet as a light blanket. Oh, and it arrived lightly fragrance of lavender due to the pretty little sachet placed inside the packaging. Such a nice touch. Looking forward to shopping for more linen from Tricia Rose!

I found 5 linen sheets at rummage sales when I was a teenager( 1960's) These were soft and smooth as silk..obviously well used. They are in my scrap pile to re-purpose right now. very wa=orn in the middle but still good at the edges. I bought Rough Linen sheets and they are rough alright. But then again I am spoiled. Mine were well broken in..I admit they are getting softer..after 8 months. Too rough scratchy when I hang them on the line. I do combo dryer and line now. My gripe is that the pillow cases are really pinchy..as in way too small. They just cover the end of the pillow..barely! And when you sleep on them ..forget it the pillow is popping out. Over the years I have assessed quality of sheets by the size of the pillow cases..That is how they cut corners... over the years pillow cases are getting smaller and smaller. And if I had assessed Rough Linen by the pillow case I would never have bought them. I also bought Cuddledown and they are of comparable quality. But I find the linen to rough for pillow cases so stick to smoother cottons...even iron them. I started sewing back in the 60's so am very familiar with fabric and linen etc. The Rough Linen cases are in my fabric sewing pile now.

I have been waiting/saving to purchase Trisha's gorgeous linens, and last month I received them! From the moment you open the shipping box it is a sensual experience. You first smell the glorious scent of lavender, in a cute linen pouch. Then you see such beautifully tissue-wrapped bundles tied up with ribbon. The final sensation is, of course, the linen. Trisha has applied so much attention to detail it takes your breath away; we don't often get to experience this kind of work-woman-ship these days. You have truly not slept in such comfort as you will with these linens.

As an artist and a designer I have worked with rough linen pieces from the beginning days of Tricia's launch. We even traced it down to my possibly being her first order....I have sheets, bed skirts, cushions and draperies all through my home and studio. After searching for linen bedding for years, I finally found the perfect linen sheets and pillowslips when I ordered from Rough Linen. Nothing beats the luxurious feel of this bedding, and Tricia's attention to detail is phenomenal! When my linen sheets arrived from her, I was swooning over the way she had wrapped them so beautifully and the texture of the linen fabric she had used. Going to bed every night is a treat. These are THE best linen products, and are not to be compared to those being sold in retail stores. They are worth every penny! Now I want some for my guest room too (but I am afraid my guests would never leave).

I have to say that I just love sleeping and cuddling up with this bedding. It feels so different than anything I have snuggled up to in the line of bedding materials! Shakira has taken a huge liking to the material as well! meoww ;)
