“I hired Robert to replicate an interior door with a couple requested changes, and it turned out great! My house was built in 1928 with very nice multiple level molding single panel doors. I have two cats and wanted to relocate the litter box to the basement, and so I needed to install a pet door, but I knew I would butcher the door if I did it myself. I also wanted the door to be longer as we are taking out the thick carpet and refinishing the hardwood floors, and the bottom gap from the current door would be too large. I called several places for quotes on the project, 4 responded. Two were insanely expensive, at $2k and $4k for the project. Robert's price at $530 was right inline with the 4th quote, but he was more responsive and I liked his website showcasing past work. Robert was easy to work with and quickly understood what I was looking for. He was flexible with evening pickup and delivery times, allowing me to not miss work. When he delivered the door, he quickly made the modifications needed to have the new door fit fit in the old, non-square frame. I'd highly recommend him and have attached some pictures for comparison (old door is painted).”

“I use these guys all the time for my lumber needs. I have used them for granite countertops. I use them for my finishing needs (stains, laquers, varnishes, etc.). I buy most of my tools from them as well and various hardware needs as well as all kinds of misc. needs around the house. They are great people to deal with, true professionals with extensive experience. Not only experience behind the counter selling you things and telling you what you should buy. They all have real world experience in the trades and therefore REALLY know their stuff. They also stand behind the products they sell. It is such a HUGE relief in the world of the BIG BOX stores and even where the smaller independent hardware stores have gone to "unskilled" labor that can show you where something is in the store (if they have it) if you know exactly what you need already and that is about the extent of their knowledge. These guys don't play that game, they don't hire anyone other than professionals and the same people who start there, stay there. Most of the faces I know from many many years of experience with them at the store. And last but not least, their prices may not be cent for cent on every last thing, but when I even it out (they are actually lower in quite a lot of areas) I usually end up spending not much more and often less than I would in the "BIG BOX" stores (I still do price check, I can't help myself, it's kind of in my nature regardless of what kind of shopping I do for any type of item). So, needless to say, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! They will take care of you well and never take advantage of you. They are also a local/regional company in Northern New England, small enough to not pull the crap the others do but big enough to compete on price and be able to handle any size or scope of project. They do actually have there own construction side of the business and build some of the best garages and outbuildings in the Northeast as well as other parts of the business.”

“Our introduction to Knight Kitchens and Ed Stoehr was quite fortuitous we quite unexpectedly attended a home improvement show at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island in anticipation of a complete renovation of an older home that we had recently purchased. The concept of having a kitchen designed and fabricated in Vermont so far from this home was not appealing but we were so impressed with the show model and Ed's attitude that we figured it was looking into. The results were nothing short of outstanding at every level of our contact with Ed. Our original intentions were just to purchase kitchen cabinetry but we ended up having Knight fabricate built-ins for our den and bathroom vanities after we were unhappy with the cost of local options. In each case, the cabinets were exceptionally well constructed in cherry wood with high quality hardware. The finishes were elegant and we regularly receive the highest of compliments on the beauty of the project. This was all done within some challenging time frames. Not to be missed is the fact that the cost of the cabinets according to our well experienced installer were in his opinion "about half of what it would have cost on Long Island". We could not be happier about our decision.”
