We hired Bruce Freeman to create a new vision for the kitchen of our recently purchased 1960's home. Our project was complicated by potential structural issues with moving weight-bearing walls and a stairwell. As a former builder himself, Bruce had the knowledge to know what was and wasn't possible structurally. He listened carefully to our ideas about the style and function we had in mind for the space. He then took that information, coupled with his own expertise, to draft an initial design. He thought outside the box and had the creativity to take advantage of wonderful lighting and views in the back of our home and actually flipped the location of the former kitchen and dining room to optimize these assets. He incorporated our feedback to create a final blueprint. We were able to present these plans to contractors in order to get comparable bids from them. Once work began, our contractor and subcontractors found the blueprint so detailed and complete that they were able to use it without any further modifications to complete the project, saving us time and cost. We were thoroughly pleased with Bruce's work and would highly recommend him for your design needs.

We really enjoyed working with Bruce on our new home design. We showed him some plans of several homes that we liked and wanted them incorporated in our new home. We went back and forth a few times with some changes and he quickly incorporated the ideas we had and he came up with a few of his own. The work he did for us was amazingly fast and accurate. He gave us dates when items would be ready and made those dates happen. The software he used was really nice and we definetly got to see the outside and the inside of out new home before we built it. I would highly recommend Bruce for your next project. You will not be disappointed.

Bruce helped me with a large addition plan to our home that was built in 2017 that includes a large garage, an extra bedroom for our expanding family, I had worked with another architect for over 2 years but was frustrated with the communication and process. We have yet to begin the project and plan to work with Bruce some more on some alterations as we have had time to reimagine our spaces to suit our family's needs better.

Bruce is always great to work with when we need complex drawings. He is attentive to detail and very communicative throughout our projects together. I would highly recommend working with him if you are considering it!

Bruce helped us out after a house fire. A large amount of the house was destroyed in the fire and we were considering incorporating a few improvements (large second floor walk-in closet with laundry, expanded garage, mud room and workshop area) in the house during the reconstruction. Our builder recommended Bruce as a resource to check the viability of our changes and to draw up the final plans after discussing the options. We could not have had a better experience. Bruce was very responsive to our tight schedule and managed to translate our ideas into a solid design. The house reconstruction is currently about 95% complete and the result is exactly what we wanted. I would absolutely use Bruce again if the need should arise and would have no reservations in recommending him to friends of family.

Bruce has done many designs for us from kitchens, additions, lower levels, bathrooms and whole house remodels. He is always responsive and does everything in a timely matter. Very personable and we've always had a good experience whenever we've used his services.

I am a home remodeling designer and have worked with Bruce Freeman on a couple of remodel projects. He was very personable, works well with the homeowners, is efficient in drawing a plan of the home as it is, and creative in providing solutions to meet the homeowners design ideas and goals. Bruce uses Chief Architect CAD program, as I do, to create construction documents as well as virtual images to help the homeowner visualize their remodeled spaces before construction begins.

I went to Bruce Freeman design with a Clear Vision of how I wished to transform a small 2 story into a modern loft alternative in the suburbs. Bruce did an excellent job of turning my sketches and ideas into a detailed building plan. Bruce is attentive to details and was very thorough in laying out a complicated structure. He is also pleasant to work with.

Bruce completed a major room addition and remodeling project for us at Sawhorse Designers and Builders, very professionally, asking necessary questions to complete his tasks. Worked through revisions in a timely manner.

I hired Bruce at BFreeman Design to help provide plans and architectural ideas to add a 3rd stall to a 2 car detached garage. As a homeowner that will be acting as a general contractor and building most of this project myself, I appreciated Bruce help me think through the design ideas and turn the ideas into a great set of building plans that I could bring to my city for approval and obtain building permits. I had no problems obtaining the approval and also used the plans to discuss setback and construction requirements specific to my city along with learning about new code requirements. I'd recommend Bruce for you project as he's easy to work with and his ability to model your project and create a computer based designs that can be modified was extremely. helpful. Being able to see what my finished project would look like and require from a building perspective helped me move from the 'just thinking about it' phase to 'I'm ready to get this built' step!

5 Stars does not begin to state how pleased I am with BFreeman Design. This was a HUGE project involving a complete 2nd floor tear-off, full 9' high 2nd floor addition, completely gutting and restructuring the existing 1910 home, adding an 800 SF Accessory Dwelling Unit at the rear of the house, and a fully finished basement including all new plumbing, mechanicals, electrical and HVAC. As the project required 5 variances from the City of Minneapolis, Bruce graciously endured 9 months of plan changes while we fought with the City to obtain permitting. The final plan was beyond everything I had hoped to accomplish in terms of form, function, design aesthetics, ease of construction, blending with the character of my East Isles neighborhood, and being economically feasible. Additionally, Bruce provided highly detailed Project Specifications, outlining every step from demolition through finish. This proved invaluable when obtaining bids from contractors. As the homeowner acting as my own General Contractor, I found Bruce's plans to be extremely detailed, accurate, and easy to work with. His drawings included framing, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and finish trim - ALL of my sub-contractors commented on how detailed the plans were, and how easy they were to work with. I attribute this to the fact that Bruce is also a builder, and his plans are designed not from just an architect's perspective, but from a builder's perspective. I've worked with other big-name architectural firms in the past and have spent 2-3 times as much money to receive plans that were not even half as detailed. Bruce was available throughout the project if I or any of my sub-contractors had questions, and he stopped by on numerous occasions to check progress. The final result looks exactly like the plans drawn by Bruce, and I could not be happier with the finished project. There is not one thing I would change! Most importantly, my neighbors absolutely love the design as well! Despite a very long (almost 2 years) and complex project, everything went very smoothly, thanks to BFreeman Design. I've already referred BFreeman Design to several of my neighbors and would be happy to show my plans and completed project to anyone who has an interest in the services of BFreeman Design.
