Elmwood Reclaimed Timber Inc. of Kansas City manufactures and markets the highest-quality reclaimed wood products, which adhere to standards embracing the company's deep respect for the environment. Every product created by Elmwood, including wide plank flooring, countertops, beams and cabinet lumber, has been made by using wood salvaged from sustainable sources. Out of respect for cultural heritage and architectural history, only structures that are condemned, abandoned or beyond repair are deconstructed. All of Elmwood Reclaimed Timbers reclaimed wood products are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council-Recycled accreditation. The recognition adds validity to an already green team.

We started out with an issue in the look of the mantle. Emails were missed. Make sure and put what you want in the box during check out. They ended up letting us return the mantle for $60 discounted shipping and shipped us a new mantle that was much better!

Ordered a custom hand hewn mantle. Sent emails asking that it look evenly choppy across the front. The mantle we got has one side without large cracks and the hewn side is almost smooth. Definitely unhappy and they won't do a thing.

I could not be less impressed with this company. They make a lot of promises but can not deliver. Thsy do not return phone calls and repeatedly give excuses. I.e., "I was away and I thought that my co-worker was going to reach out to you." I wanted to explain the poor service to the president but he does not return calls either. At least I kow where they learn their customer service practices. They held up my job for months and never delivered. Horrible company!

Not impressed, either with product or with customer service. I ordered a mantle that looked nothing like the color or quality on the website. I realize this is reclaimed wood and subject to flaws and variation, but the mantle was so severely cracked that it seems the whole piece is going to split in half. I would never hang this, it looks like a damaged, defective mantle. Upon writing to the company on the very day the mantle was delivered, I was basically told tough luck, that any other replacement they sent would probably look the same and would likely not be worth the cost to ship it back, at my own expense. So $400 down the drain for something I am going to end up tossing. Last time I buy sight unseen on-line. Good idea for a company in concept, very poor execution and customer service.

Let me start by apologizing for any negative experience you may have encountered with our products or our customer service. I assure you that it is not our policy to expect our customers to keep damaged goods or to pay for return shipping, neither is it our policy to ship damaged product.
Our customers should bear in mind however, that because these are reclaimed beams, it is beyond the scope of our ability to display pictures on our website of the exact beam you are purchasing. The beams depicted are only representative of what we offer and they are sold by the way they were originally cut, either hand hewn or rough sawn, and come unfinished. We do offer several wax finishes on our site that customers can purchase separately and apply themselves to achieve the look they are wanting. We will also send out free samples of our beams and mantles, either finished or unfinished, so that you may see and feel an example of what you may expect when purchasing our products.
It must also be kept in mind that these are not new beams cut with modern machines and computerized saws; they come from buildings and structures that are sometimes over one hundred years old and have seen a lot of wear and tear and weather in their lifetimes. But it is this process that gives our unique beams the variation in colors and flaws that our discerning customers are looking for. They are old and they usually wear their age well.
Sometimes however, and old beam will leave our facility and in the shipping process become damaged, or inherent flaws in the wood become more pronounced. In these instances, all we require is a few cell phone pictures to confirm the damage for our records and a replacement is rushed out of our doors. If there is no damage and the beam is just not what our customer expected, we do require that it be sent back to us and upon receipt of the beam, we issue a replacement or a refund.
Because we value each of our customers and pride ourselves on the quality of our products we ask that you please contact us again in order to resolve this issue and make sure that you get the mantle that you desire.

The quality of the wood and the process they use to dry and mill the wood made them an easy pick for my project. I had a very pleasant and professional experience with Michael Dunn (sales) who helped me through all the options and wood types over the phone. I feel like I got a high quality product and have no regrets working with them. I look forward to working with them again in the future.

I put in 400 sqft of their reclaimed hardwoods - the Vermont Moonlight Medley - and couldn't be happier overall with the results! They are exactly what I imagined and they are very attention getting! Everyone who walks in just raves about them. Elmwood has the best prices, they have good customer service and were helpful in resolving the logistics issues that I had. One down side was the freight option proved challenging as the pallets were huge and difficult to deal with, but worth it in the end. I have already contacted them about new projects. Get one of their idea books set to you and you'll see why they're a great choice. They had product offerings that no one else had in my research and that showed true competency in their trade.
